    It happened again.

My work went behind my back and scheduled me to work today. They scheduled me for an 8 hour shift that I didn't find out about until yesterday. Yesterday, I was feeling bad as it was, and my manager knew he had screwed me over to begin with. I could tell in his voice/actions. Anyways, I woke up today, and wasn't feeling well, so I decided to call in. I called in 2 hours and 15 minutes before the shift (I know, that's not that far notice), but my manager flat out told me no. I felt violated and didn't feel good, so I decided to call back about 10 minutes ago and tell them no. So, I did (knowing I didn't have to legally be held responsible for coming in) and told them I didn't want to screw them over, but I couldn't make it in, and my boss tried to lay all this blame on me. He was like, "Well, it is gonna screw me over...blah blah blah", and then basically hung up on me. Also, I've been their workhorse lately. I've worked just as many or more hours than anyone else in the store (full-time, basically...37.5 hours), and all that working has been at a store about 25 miles from my home-based store.

I'm just wondering whether I should feel guilty or something? Should I be subjected to some sort of wrongful treatment for not showing up?

I don't know...the work should be a little more considerate, but I don't know if I would bite the hand that feeds me.

Weren't you going to quit anyways because they won't train you to be a pharmacy tech, or was that somebody else? I can't keep all the threads straight sometimes.

Just quit already. You'll find another job. You treat them with far too much consideration given how they've been treating you. You're probably too nice to wait for a moment when it'd hurt worst to walk out, so I won't suggest it. But, just quit.

My wife worked for a while for the Ritz Carlton. She got on poorly with her boss and they gave her all sorts of crap for months. I convinced her to quit, and she did, but then they talked her back into staying. And then they treated her like crap some more until she quit again. That stuff isn't worth what these people pay. Work for someone who can treat you with some respect.

    Be your own boss - start a meth lab = $ $ $ = :D

Of course you more than likely end up in the federal pen, but it will be a wild ride until you get there.

Cheer up, EWS. You're how old?? 16?? Just think - in about 10 years, you might get a job where you spend most of your time reading about teenagers getting screwed at their minimum wage jobs and you are getting paid the whole time while you are reading it! :D ;)

Let's hope your boss doesn't read this forum and see that you were too sick to work but not too sick to complain about it on a BBS.
