Moochie signs a 6 year contract with the Rockets sometime tomorrow. Just to let you know, don't know the financial part....
After he signs, will he be traded? Personally, I think trading for Mookie Blaylock would be worth a gamble. Of course, that's my opinion. The Rockets need a good passer with all those gunners like Mobley, Rice, and Walt Williams.
For 6 freakin' years. Way too much for a backup point guard. Let's hope this isn't another "Maloney". Old School
SIX years?!!!!!!! Ouch! I wonder how much per year he is getting. If he is signed that long to a reasonable amount I suppose it's a good deal. One down, one to go. Let's hope that the warriors don't match Jackson! Let's get this damn season started, I can hardly wait!
Feigen on chron.com also reports 6yrs $22.75 mil not bad for 6 pts a game, great playmaking ability, and the best hair in the N.B.A. When is GSW's 15 days up?
e-bull, Feigan says the 16th, but he says the offer sheet was signed sept 29. I haven't been really paying attention so there is probable a reason for the math not working.
Just did the math, and if the raise per year is 12.5%, then the baseline comes out to 2.77 mil. Over six years, of course, 22.75 mil. averages out to 3.8 mil. a year. Ouch! The 4-year contract he turned down gave him 3.3 mil. a year. The baseline's the same though. In essence, the Rockets folded, extending their original offer to two more years with the compound interest.
Well I'm glad Moochie has signed but 6 years is kinda a lot. Does anyone know if all the years are guaranteed?
I don't have a problem with the contract length. I just wish they could've talked him down to a 3 mil. per year contract. At least he's not making more than Cuttino. Then I'd really be freaking out. There better not be a player option in this contract... Well, I like Moochie and there's no question in my mind that he's good for the team. I was ready to go with Damon Jones and/or Oscar Torres, but especially when you consider chemistry, a bird in the hand is probably worth several in the bush. I guess I'll trust Rudy T on this one. If he thinks Moochie's so important that he can't be replaced, I'll defer to his judgement. But man, this really bites. If Moochie isn't working out after four years, he'll become our Bobby Sura (well, not quite) with the last two years worth 4.4 and 4.9 mil respectively. We better get Jackson now. If we're going to shell out this kind of cash for Moochie, I want the satisfaction of knowing we're paying a bargain price for a decent big man. You know. When it comes down to it, I can live with Mooch raking in more than he's worth. What kills me is knowing Fagan's gotten overvalue on every one of his clients with us this summer (with the possible exception of Hakeem, but he's the worst case for obvious reasons). God, that just makes me want to puke.
You think he had a contract drive last year? (ie Sleepy Floyd, Kenny Smith, and Matt Maloney) That would be shame if his game had a steep dropoff this year.
I calculate $2.8888888m base year. You are doing compounded interest. It is merely simple interest math. I'm pleased because I was willing to go 6 yrs without budging on base yr, for the one fact that Moochie pushes transition very well...evn better than Stevie...so far. When we lost Mo', we fell into a situation of needing significant improvement via transition. Without Mo, we need a transition backup PG to help run it for 48 minutes. Moochie is that point guard. we had little choice, imo. And I always felt Fegan gained negotiating position the moment Mo' fell.
YES!!! The Mooch is back! Now we need to make a grassroots effort to get the Moochie song played on every station!! LT
Good. Thank goodness my source was wrong. Roughly 4 million a year... Hmmm... Oh well, Mooch is back! Why get Damon Jones???
