BTW, did the rockets sign Shandon Anderson to his bad contract, or has he since resinged wih the Knicks?
Are you trying to say that the bobcats wouldn't consider a hobbled SG that'll be, by far the highest paid guard in the league for the next three years and only behind Shaq and KG overall.
Can't see Charlotte biting on those guys. Only if they're bribed somehow, and I can't see what the Knicks would use. We're so much better off than they are, it ain't funny. Something to ponder while we dissect the Rocks. It could be a lot worse here.
Just like the NFL expansion draft, the Knicks would have to throw in a good player for them to Charlotte take a bad contract off their hands. The only problem, is what good players do the Knicks even have anymore? Stephon, but they wouldn't give him up unless Kobe said he's going to NY for sure. Even then, i'm not sure the Bobcats would want a clubhouse cancer like Stephon. But of course they can't legally discuss this, just like the Texan's didn't.
That's the problem for the Knicks. They have some good people, but they all have bad contracts. The Knicks would need to swing a hell of a trade to get in on any significant deal involving the Bobcats, imo. It's hard to see them as players.
I'm sure the Bobcats will take Houston. Not to keep him ofcourse, but to trade him. If they want MoT and Mobley for Houston, I'd deal with the Bobcats. Ofcourse, that would only happen if the Bobcats thought they could deal Mo for 2 or 3 smaller contracts. So the end result: - Knicks screwed, they don't have a SG. - Bobcats pick Houston, exchange him for 3 goodp layers. - We get Allan Houston. Although he's overpaid, we're not giving up much to get him. He becomes a 3rd wheel on this team, and we give up a bad contract to get him anyway. He'd give both Yao and Francis some extra space, and if we get McDyess and Damon Jones, we're looking at this: Yao/Cato McDyess/Cato/Spoom JJ/Boki/AG Houston/Pike Francis/Damon Jones If Houston needs to sit out a few games, Pike, Boki and JJ can cover the minutes. Francis can play some 2-guard alongside Jones as well. That's one way we can upgrade without giving up any of our stars.
My understanding was the list of unprotected players was supposed to be kept a secret (not made public). From the Knicks' and Isiah's actions, secrecy appears to be optional and not mandatory. IMO, the Rockets won't be so liberal with this information.
on offense i like the idea of getting houston. i also like the idea of having a guy named houston play for us. however, i don't want his contract taking up our cap, and he can't play any D. he is allways injured with something. he refused to have surgery early in this offseason, when team doctors said he needed it. when he finaly does have his surgery he will miss a good amount of games next year recovering from it.
CAT is not one of or stars? There is no way that I would ever, ever, ever take Houston (whom I like) over CAT. You are talking about trading Mo and Cat for Houston... that is a terrible trade. Terrible. Houston doesn't play D and is strickly a shooter. Can't drive to the basket like Cat. And then you are assuming that we can sign McDyess? Ugh.
Houston has no business here. Besides being only a small upgrade on Mobley (which is generous since I think his age and injury issues make him less valuable), his gargantuan contract is 3 years long. If it was 2 years maybe, but 3 defintiely not. That would carry him through '06/07. The offseason before that, everyone is expiring except MoT and Francis. That's a big FA year for us.
A couple of years ago, didn't Houston play on a team where the coach demanded defensive effort from everybody?
Ofcourse he doesn't drive to the basket - why would he? He's one of the best shooters in the entire league, that's the whole point of this trade. In case you missed the article on McDyess in the Chron, his agent said that McDyess would love to play for Houston. Check your facts before spewing your "UGH" comments.
