During the rain yesterday a lightning bolt rendered my old monitor useless, so I'm using a tiny old monitor. I'm looking for a new monitor, and don't know exactly what I should look for. I went to overstock.com and saw this , which seemed like a good value. I'd like to pay no more than around $270, would this be about the best value I could get?
$250 is a decent deal for a 21inch CRT monitor. But I think you can do better with your budget. If you want a CRT monitor: Here is a Samsung 19 inch CRT from Office Depot for $195 Link Here is a Dell 19inch CRT for $99.95. This is being sold from a non-profit seller in Alabama: Link If you want a 19inch LCD you can get them for around $330 shipped. But then again, you said your price range was $270. If you are interested in LCD's and can wait a few days I will post some better deals when I find them. I personally would pay a little more and get the LCD. Since I've switched to an LCD, I can't go back and look at a CRT anymore. Hope that helps.
The response time for cheap LCD's sucks, when the frame rates are cranked up you get "ghosting" and artifacts If you do a lot of gaming and have a high end video card... stick with CRT's
Go for the 19 inch Viewsonic P95F. Trust me it's an amazing montor. There's the normal setting, the graphics or game setting, and the video and dvd setting. I can't live without the game setting since it enhance the brightness and I'm kicking ass becasue it's so clear. DO NOT buy a LCD monitor. Its doesn't last. You're not going to get a good LCD with that budget. For best monitor I think for your price at that Overstock place is the Sony CPD-220GS 17-inch CRT Monitor. You cant go wrong with the Viewsonic A90F 19-inch Perfect Flat Monitor or the Viewsonic GS790s 19-inch Monitor. http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/crtmonitors/proseries/p95fplusb/ I think it should be around your budget if you are talking US dollars.
GriffinFan, I have a Sony 17 inch LCD that I got when I bought my new sony computer. I already had a 17 LCD. I have all the cables and it has a little bit of use but I would seel it to you for $350
A great place for good USED monitors cheap ! I buy all the monitors for our company and Merkortech is a great place to pick up quality used monitors. $150 or so for a good 21" monitor. DD
Hey...for anyone that is looking for a cheap monitor....I have a Sony Trinitron fixed frequency 21" monitor for the first person to show up with 150 bucks. It has been collecting dust at the office for a while, it does work, but it takes up quite a bit desk space..
