This thread would be limited to Rocket games where you were in attendance ....where something happened that maybe doesn't get that much/or any historical run but nevertheless is still one of the most amazing things you've ever witnessed at a game...could be from an unlikely source....or something unexpected from a star...on or off the court. I'll get this going with the Chicken Man, Mike Dunleavy going off for a career high 48 or something at the Summit....totally dialed into the zone....We were going nuts as he tried to not only get 50, but the free dinner too.
Last season, went to back to back games against the Magic and Spurs. Against the Spurs, Aaron Brooks, Kevin Martin and Luis Scola each scored 30. It was on a class field trip and we were screaming our butts off the entire time.
Two Vernon Maxwell crazy game-winners I saw live. First, an errant pass meant for Hakeem went off the backboard. Most memorable game so far has been the game against the Kings in 07? I think before we traded for Ron & Mike Bibby was still on their sqaud too. Anyway we were down to the final seconds of the game and Steve Novak hit a straight away 3 to win the game. Crowd errupted and I spilled my last beer everywhere in celebration, plus I caught one of those shirts they rocket at you during halftime. Awesome times.
Finally advancing past the first round. Ron Artest draining 3s during that game. Chanting beat LA at the end of the game. Tracy lighting up the Jazz for 3 right before the half ended during game 2 of the playoffs in 2007. /of the 22 game win streak Rockets blowing out the Mavs during the 05-06 season opener without Tracy.
Kenny Smith, buried on the bench, took his warmies off and heated up with 3-pointer after 3-pointer to beat Lakes at Summit. Sammy, as time expired, nailing bank shot to defeat Mavs at Reunion. Steve Novak, dusting pine off his butt, nailing game winner in NOLA for win.
I like to take in Rox games when I travel and they are where I am. Boston, Atlanta, GSW, Cleveland, AmAirlines/Dallas are other places I have caught them. I just seem to have trouble getting to TheToyShop
Vince Carter's first game in Houston his rookie season. That was the reason we went, but got to see our own rookies, Dickerson and Cuttino, nail 7 3-pointers apiece. Also went to a game on Valentine's Day once and 5 couples got married at the half with Clutch serving as Best Man. I think Eddie House dropped 50 on us. That one was a surreal experience.
Houston vs Toronto in December 2007. About 3-4 seconds before half time, Battier intercepts a pass in midcourt, dribbles through enemies and slams it down the rim like a friggin boss. Buzzer goes off, crowd goes wild, I dropped a few popcorn, hugged my then-gf, went to the concession, bought some nachos, epic win.
Is it just me or did Olajuwon grab the ball and step out of bounds when Del Negro threw it to no-one on the penultimate play? The ball bounced just inside the baseline so was still live when Hakeem grabbed it.

The games leading up to Mario Elie breaking his wrist... somehow Elie became unimaginably good, he was playing on a completely different level. He might have been better than Drexler. The improvement in his game was uncanny to watch. Then he shattered his wrist and that was that.
The game vs Suns in 08, when Hakeem got a halftime hall of fame celebration, and it was the same day they revealed the statue of his jersey.
Back in 86, a buddy of mine and I went on one of our many ski trips. On this occasion, we were in Denver at the same time our Rockets were visiting McNichols. After watching them in the Summit for so long, it was surreal to not only catch them while on the road, but to take in the game in what amounted to a large field house with the biggest collection of red haired, blue collar people I've ever witnessed. Our cheap seats afforded us a decent view as the Rockets throttled the Nuggets. Dream actually played well in the thin air on this night.. I remember watching the aforementioned crowd along with their reactions ....It was truly awesome..For instance, the oohs and ahhs were out in full force as Akeem swatted a shot back not once,not twice, but three times in a row(and one was high on the glass).... I realized they were getting a look,for the first time in many cases at what I'd seen a million times...since Dream was at UH....except it wasn't just him it was our whole team. I was proud, yes, but was also reminded of that common thread linking fans of all teams (except Jazzfan)........Also, that sometimes we tend to take things for granted. It would take too long to chronicle the rest of the experience except to say that we cheered on the Rockets, had a blast with those around us, and after the game, ended up partying late into the night with some new friends....Nuggets fans all...Good times...
