Say the Raptors get the 3rd pick would you trade MOBLEY for the 3rd pick? I know that may sound crazy, but the Raptors wanted Mobley the year we re-signed him. Dever most likely will have the 2nd pick and they might draft Milicic(if he goes into the draft) leaving Carmelo or even if they pick Carmelo we still have Darko on board. This would be risky for both teams, Mobley would help out Carter alot and they would have a great back court in Williams\Mobley\Carter, but potential says Mobley will not be as good as Carmelo or Milicic. Same for the Rockets, we lose alot of fire power in Mobley and might get a bust in return. Would you do it? Or would Toronto do it?
You guys are acting like Carmelo or Milicic are going to be superstars. Remember Eddie Griffin? He put up great numbers as a freshman in college and look at him now. Milicic is a big risk, Carmelo is most likely going to be great, but there is allways a risk with draft picks. Mobley allready proved he can play in the NBA.
if we're gonna deal with toronto, i'd rather play for high stakes. steve francis for vince carter... toronto'd do it, i believe. houston'd be better off, as well.
Even if Toronto decided to go the safe route and trade the pick for an accomplished player, they could get so much more than Mobley. Francis for the pick would be closer to an even deal than that.
You remember when Dallas unloaded those players to New Jersey for Bradley/Pack? I don't remember who they were, not the 3 Js or Cassell, but Barkley said "yeah, we offered Hakeem to Jersey for Yinka Dare, but the Nets wanted more."
OK,OK what if they threw in Vince Carter? Or maybe sweat 'em out till they add VC and Alvin Williams!
Guys I don't understand why you guys want to get younger... We are already a team with the oldest vet. being Rice at 33-34... After that it falls to Taylor and Cato and then falls again to like 24... We are a very young team, @#$% a lottery pick... I tell you who I would trade for from Toronto... Morris Peterson 6'6/6'7 Shooter(we don't have many shooters on our team just scorers... Jerome Williams 6'9 F here's a guy that I would love to have... I'd even take a vet. PG like Lindsey Hunter or Michael Bradley off their hands... We would have to trade Cat, EG and either Norris or Morris... Hey Toronto needs some help in the scoring department and we all know that Cuttino can fill it up... EG would help them defensively... I want to add veteran players to this young, at times immature team)... I would love to add MO Peterson/Jerome Williams/Hunter or Bradley for Cat/EG but I think Cat and EG make too much... Shoot I'd take all four of those players just to make it work... Just an opinion...
It's horrible for the Raptors, but still, the Rockets woldn't do it either. Basically, none of the 2 teams benefit from this trade. We're not looking to the draft. We're looking for vets, and we want to win NOW. While they would like to get a bit younger, and are looking for better contracts and bigger players.
What?!? And people were saying bad trade because trading young players with potential for a good solid proven veteran. HMMPH!!!!!!!
You guys can't really think Toronto would give up the #3 pick in this year's draft for Mobley? There's no way in hell they'd do that. The first 3 picks in this year's draft are the most highly regarded first 3 picks in recent years. All three guys are supposedly guys that could become franchise players and all are incredibly young. I'm not saying that they will be, but these 3 have a ton of buzz around them. Mobley is a good player, but the league has tons of guards like him.
so were giving up a proven, 27 year old shooting gaurd, for a guy whos 17(darko) or 19(melo) on the already 2nd youngest team in the nba......can someone say lottery next year? this is not right. when youre a young team, the point is to get older and more experienced. not the other way around.
We want to get smarter and more experienced. We do NOT merely want to get older. That is all you will get from the Cat!! He can be 103 and still play like he has not learned a thing! If noone wants the Cat, I'd trade him for a song. It's addition by substraction!
Cat is not essential to the Rox team anymore. Even if Rox does not have Cat, we might suffer a little but it is not going to be a huge drop. Basically, Cat is replacable, plus trading Cat would be a chemistry-boost. So if you can trade Cat for a superstar-potential, and solve your chemistry problem, of course you do it. If you do not do it as a GM, you really suck as a GM. But of course, Toronto would never do it. Toronto would only do it if Steve or Yao for #3 pick.
For **** sake, stop with these trade proposals. They are absolutely idiotic. Here's a proposal: I'll go to a basketball board, where Fans of All teams participate in discussion, and present a series of randomly selected trades, which have been proposed by a number of you, here. Sorry, but reading these trade proposals makes me question some of you here, when it comes to knowing the value of players of other teams. For the record, Steve Francis probably wouldn't even be worth either of the top three picks in this draft. James, Anthony, and Milicic are THAT good. Almost all experts agree that these three for the strongest top three picks in the past few years.
