Remember the year when Mobley and Dickerson was drafted?

Didnt Mobley play PG and Dickerson SG?

If so, how well did Mobley play the PG postion?

Was he the starter or bench?

    Thanks in advance...

I think its worth a try becuase Steve is struggling realy bad this year, i think a change to the 2 guard will help his game alot, IMO. Or who knows maybe it wont but like i said its worth a try

mobley played PG. but there are a few things you have to remember.

1 the job of the point guard that year was to dump the bal as fast as possible to barkley or olajuwon.
2 pippen did most of the bringing the ball up.

so in theorie mobley played PG but he didn't play it like our point gaurd should do now, so i believe he isn't an option at the point guard.

for the people who feel that the job of our current point guard is to dump the ball as soon as possible to Yao, note that Yao isn't as good as olajuwon was, or as barkley was.

He started (or at least was starting by the end of the season), he did an ok job, but at that time the primary role of the Rox PG, as it was for the previous 8 years or so, was to give the ball to Hakeem/Charles on left low block, commence standing around. That was pretty much it.

FWIW, JVG did mention something about possibly having Cat and JJ play some minutes at point after the Moochie trade. But I generally don't trust coaches to show their hand to the public.

    and a old schouting report

    Scouting Report: Nick Vaughan [nvaughan@student.umass.edu]
Not really a prospect until his senior year, where he exploded, being voted the Atlantic 10's MVP. Benefitted from not being the focal point on defense, also from Tyson Wheeler's increased passing. Has good size for a 2 guard (6'4"), and is fairly well built. Sometimes plays out of control, will go for the kill rather than the smart play. Has good range on his jumper, but is very inconsistent with it. Doesn't like to post up, even though most of the guys who defended him were smaller. Good defensive player, not as quick as his nickname (Cat) would lead you to believe. Won't take his man out of the game, but will give him fits trying to get open. Probably will end up a free agent camp signing, CBA, or overseas.

Cat's not a true point guard, but he's an adequate fill-in. He was solid as a PG his rookie year, which is no small feat.

Something's gotta be done, though. Francis is sucking balls this year. Maybe a shift to 2-guard every now and then would help his snap out of his months-long slump.

I would trade Stevie to Atlanta for Shareef Abdur-Rahim in a heartbeat. Move Cato to the bench and let him back up the 4 and 5 spot with Taylor. Oh... sign Ward. Let him start at point. You can run Mobley there at times. Adding Abdur-Rahim would give the Rox two legitimate post players and with the collection of outside shooters we would have (Cat, Polish Rifle, Jackson, Ward, Boki)... would make for a great inside/out offensive team like the old Rox of the back to back years.

Rahim has done such a better job helping his team than Francis, so lets sign him.

I'm sure everybody on this message board could be the point guard on a team with Olajuwon, Barkley, and Pippen

Some of the things Steve is working on (smarter decisions, sharing the ball) are also Cat's weakness'.

I think Steve is working so hard on defense/decision making that his shot got left behind. I still think he will come around. We are 33 games into Steve Francis morphing into a real point guard.
