Odom missed '97-'98 season because he was a transfer from UNLV, but he was at Rhode Island then. At least that's what it looks like. I checked out Odom's bio on nba.com.

Odom was saying he was looking forward to the Rookie Game laughing saying he was going to take it on Cuttino Mobley all day ... he kept leaning in to the mic and saying "Cuttino Mobley" loudly.... you could tell they are friends (both at Rhode Island)

Mobley said in response, "Oh that's how it's going to be. It can be like that. I don't want to make any young kids feel bad" (paraphrasing)

They were at Rhode Island together? If I'm not mistaken, Odom left after his first year, which also happened to be the same year Cuttino Mobley played point for the Rockets.

    Anybody know?

I heard somewhere that Cuttino helped recruit Odom at Rhode Island.

    Traj is correct.

Odom was on the team as a transfer, but not eligible. He and Cuttino played one-on-one every day.

Not to mention they played summer league against the likes of Eddie Jones, Iverson and Kobe.
