May decide by Saturday, but for now leaning toward Houston From Fox 26 ------------------ [This message has been edited by NewGuy (edited August 23, 2000).]
I'm getting closer and closer to apathy on the entire issue. Anyone else feel like declaring a moratorium on MoFo (props to DaDakota) threads until he signs somewhere? Then we can properly dish out love or spit hatred without worrying about looking like fools and hypocrites later . ------------------ David Falk is a MoFo. The lottery sucks. Playoffs 2001.
Patience is a virtue! Taylor is worth waiting for. Obtaining Taylor will make our job next year much easier. I don't hold much hope in us getting Webber next year, and I don't see any other FAs that I'm dying to obtain next year, who won't get snapped up by their own teams. Do you really think Cuban will let Finley go? So, either we do Sign and Trades, or pick up guys through the draft. Orlando pulled off stuff this year, because there were some prime FA's, but that won't be the case next year, and by the following year, our cap will be gone again. The new CBA gives the existing team the clear advantage, as long as they are willing to pay through the nose with the luxury tax. So, the best way to develop a championship team is now through the draft or young players who look they'll make it big. So, picking up Taylor and a high pick or 2 in next years draft would help us make large strides towards being a championship caliber team. ------------------ the more I know, the more I know I don't know...
HOUSTON ROCKETS- Houston Rockets boxscore 4/20/00 NBA - Final Vancouver Grizzlies 96 Houston Rockets 92 www.newsclicker.com Click on "THE ROCKET GUY!" for my home page, and daily updates on the Rockets! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Posted 08/24/00) DEADLINE? YEAH, RIGHT!! I have heard more deadlines discussed by Taylor and Falk than I can even remember long enough to list. Was it two weeks ago that Taylor said he would decide between Seattle and Houston no later than "Friday?" Well, that was a couple of Fridays ago and no decision has been reached. Next Falk let "slip" that Taylor had decided on Houston and would sign by Tuesday. That was two Tuesdays ago. Next thing you know, Taylor is talking to Fox and says he is ready to sign with Seattle. That was, of course, over a week ago, and he denied it two days later, saying he had not yet decided where he would sign. Then Washington came into the picture and Michael Jordan appeared to be using his significant influence over David Falk to try and lure Taylor to the Wizards. Let's see, where does this saga go next? Oh, yes! No one could quite figure out why on Earth Mo would want to go to Seattle. He was looking to play behind Horace Grant and Vin Baker in the rotation, which was not conducive to showcasing Taylor's talent, as he was said to be interested in doing. True, Seattle had been trying to unload Baker, but there had been no takers. Suddenly, a four team deal popped up that could send Baker to New York in exchange for Ewing (?!?!?), but Detroit backed out at the last minute. Now Seattle says they will give Taylor until Thursday to sign and then they will withdraw their offer to him. Another deadline? Taylor, meanwhile, is said to be considering new offers that have come in, but no one has any idea what those offers are. The Sonics say they will bail on Mo Thursday, the Rockets HAVE to use their exception by August 31st or lose it, and Washington can't offer Taylor any money any time soon. Maybe This is from bskball.com "Taylor should sit out a year and see what it does for his market value. Personally, I'm sick of him and I hope he ends up playing in Golden State or Atlanta - watching the playoffs on TV. It would serve him right." My sentiments, exactly! ------------------
Sorry about that. Didn't mean to post the whole article. I just grow weary of Mo Taylor all ready. ------------------
I personally have no problem with the guy sitting back and waiting to make up his mind. Whether you like Falk or not, he's just trying to get his clients the best deal possible. If I were in Taylor's position, I'd take my time too. ------------------ "I'll drop kick those f*ckin' dogs if they come anywhere near me." visit www.swirve.com
FranchiseCat, thanks for snagging my ESPN name. I'm honored that it's so well-liked. Who are you over there? ------------------
NewGuy - I don't post on ESPN....In fact, I rarely go to that site. Wow, I thought I was being original....I guess great minds think a like. P.S. - Maybe we should start copyrighting our usernames. ------------------
Somehow a guy who doesn't even know that the Rockets trade exception goes until October 1st isn't a very reliable source. TRG is almost all speculation, and you can't really consider him to be a "source" at all. Three words on that article: Consider the source. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? FranchiseCat--I'm in, let's find every message board on the Net and make sure that one of us has FranchiseCat on all of 'em. Welcome to the board ------------------
NewGuy - Wow, it seems that you are king of the ESPN msg board....Please excuse the infraction. I will change my username as soon as I can come up with a new one. Why didn't you use the same username on CC.BBS as you do on ESPN? Just asking. ------------------
What makes you think I'm the king? Also, keep FranchiseCat if you want. I don't mind at all, I thought about taking it when I came here but decided not to. It's not an infraction, you came up with it originally just like me. Unless you come up with a better one, don't change it. I was going to use it over here but I don't remember why I just chose DaFranchise. Unfortunately after about 4 or 5 months and 149 posts, I was kicked off the BBS. I made NewGuy as a temporary name, thinking they'd let me back on in a few days. They didn't so I just kept it. I didn't want to be the first one to have 3 names in under 6 months. ------------------
NewGuy - Thanks. I will use it with honor. And I didn't mean to offend with the "king of ESPN posting", it's just that when I went over there to check it out, you had a lot of post. ------------------
FranchiseCat- I know you weren't trying to offend me, I was just asking why you said that. I hadn't been reading any posts in a while so I went over some of the recent ones and replied, that's why there's like 6 in a row from me. And don't let me down on that name. ------------------
