I have another question, does anyone know where I can change Dotel's status to Closer from Reliever? He isn't happy, and I have read it would make him very happy to change his status. The gameplay in this game is amazing. I love how you can control the strength of the pitches and throws....great game so far. EDIT: Ok, finally found out where I can change his status, but he won't accept my offer to make him my closer with out offering more money.....one problem, I don't have enough money to make his contract any bigger..... :-(
Uprising, what did you spend the 3,000 dollars that was in the astros bank on? I wouldn't worry about it though, as soon as you reach the offseason just about every person on your team is a free agent. You've gotta resign Kent, Biggio, Berkman, Oswalt, Miller, Dotel and etc... so you'll have plenty of money then.
I offered slightly bigger contracts to a couple of players, to make them happy. Question: How do you control one of the runners when you have more than one runner aboard? I had a man on second and then Ensberg hit a ball that bounced off the wall, I wanted Ensberg to stop at second and the other guy to score. So I pressed the L1 button to make them run through the bases, but I didn't want Ensberg to run. He was thrown out at 3rd. I didn't want to press R1 and have both runners turn around...that would suck.
Played my first couple of games and got whupped.Had to lower the difficulty settings down to rookie now.Pitching and fielding is easy to adapt too,but hitting is kinda hard for me right now.Love the fielding animations so far.Not sure what button to press for baserunning and leading off.Game have lived up to the hype so far for me.... Anybody know what button to lead off???
i haven't quite figured out the baserunning yet. Hell, i just figured out about 2 hours ago that when pitching you've gotta press the "Square", "Triangle", "X" and "Circle" buttons for accuracy depending on which pitch you throw. I had been pressing "X" the entire time regardless of pitch and was getting killed.
I like MVP so far. Took me a couple of exhibition games to get used to the control schemes and a few games in my dynasty at the "Rookie" level but I'm up at "Pro" right now. Currently 13-3 and Hidalgo's leading the league with 14 HRs, followed by Kent's 12. Surprisingly, Everett has 7 HRs. Guess hitting in the 2 spot agrees with him. The only thing bothering me is I'm going to have to bump Carlos down to relief or the minors and move Redding into the rotation. Carlos just isn't as good as he should be. The only really major move I've seen that they've missed is ARod to the Yanks. Gotta see if I can find a good hitting catcher. Either that or move Chavez into the lineup. Ausmus isn't hitting a whole lot (big surprise I know). Anyway, I'm going to start playing a couple of minor league games too, that seems like it would be interesting.
You use the right analoge stick to give your basrunner a lead. L1 steals the base. R1 makes him turn around and run back to the base. L1 makes them run through the basses when already running. Tapping the right Analage stick give the runner a lead...you can press it how many times as you like. I finally hit my first homeruns. In the first inning it was Badwell, with the bomb behind the Flagpoles!! Then Bags hit another in the 5th inning, followed by a Jeff Kent bomb! 2 HR's in a row! Ausmus and everett are really racking up the singles. It took me a while to get my power hitters, hitting. This game has really lived up to the hype so far. I am loving it. I love being able to control the strength of the throws.
Thanks for the info Uprising. Finally won my first game against the Giants 5-4.Kent's 2 run homer in the 8th gave me the lead, and Dotel came in to close it.Game is kinda hard, but i'm still learning it,and the gameplay has been great so far. By the way,has anybody successful at turning a double play. All of mines have been broken up by the incoming sliders.Maybe i'm holding meter down too long?? Next game,Clemens on the mound.Go Astros.
I had one double play. I moved my 2nd baseman to the side to keep the sliding baserunner from breaking up the play.
As always, EA lags in basketball and soccer, but is tops in the other categories. Reviews seem to show that MVP is no exception.
lags? I thought it was a gppd ga,e. It got g00d revoews in my magazines....ugh, I canlt type. too much beer,,,,night,
if you want to control the individual runners just press the button from the base he's at(for x-box b=first, y=second, etc.) and use the d-pad, rather than the analog stick to run in the direction you want him to go. it's obviously works in some situations alot better than advancing all the runners. i just started a dynasty, this has to be the best baseball game i've played in a good while.
Thanks a lot man. I was thinking it had to be something like that, but I didn't want to take the chance and screw up a my game.
I was going to respond, but I have no idea what you're saying. EA games are always the best, IMO, unless we're talking basketball or soccer. ESPN Basketball is a little better, and Winning Eleven is supposed to be one of the greatest soccer series ever created. I was just saying it sounds like MVP is good, as it should be.
What are you talking about? EA has never has the best baseball game. I'm sure when ESPN World Series comes out, this year will ne exception. EA has the best football game, and that's it. And it's only had the best football game in the last two years.
Looked through my payroll for the astros, and there is no way I can keep this team together.Oswalt,Miller and Berkman are up for big pay raises, and over half of my team are free agents next year.I guess that explains all the unhappy faces on my roster.I gave Dotel a extension and made him my closer, and he still wasnt happy. Not planning on resigning Hidalgo, might trade him around the trading deadline for some prospects. Anybody ever charge the mound yet?I got hit with Berkman yesterday and had a option to charge, but I didnt because I read that team chemistry could go down, and players could get suspended.
Sorry dude, that was a late night after hanging out with my buds (pals)...I may have had too many buds (drink) when I typed that. It's true, EA's Triple Play was the worst thing, or atleast one of the worst things ever out there. MVP baseball is a huge difference than their last baseball game. I was skeptic about it, I didn't get 2003 last year because I didn't know how it was going to be. I heard it was a great game, but it gave the signs of being a new game. There were a number of small flaws. Well this years game has fixed all those, and added more options. So far it is a great game. I have been an Acclaim Allstar Baseball fan, but now I might be switching to EA. I love all the extras in it. (pitching and throwing scheme)
