The Rockies are playing great but their competition this postseason has been weak. The 2 best teams just got done playing each other - I think the Sox will beat the Rockies in 6.
typical AL east coast fan with the same old bullsh*t. you do know the rockies swept the team with the best NL record.
Arizona had the best record in the NL for most of the season. The Rockies have been absolutely amazing for a very long time now. They may very well lose the series...but I don't think we're talking about a team dramatically less capable than the Indians...or the Red Sox, for that matter.
Uh, son, I was pulling for the Sox way before you were a gleam in your mother's eye. Read the other thread, started by Clutch City93, on how I got to be a fan. Sorry but when your total runs given up is more than the total runs you score, I don't see how Arizona was such a great team. Yea, so they won 90 games - whoopedamndoo - the Red Sox and Indians both won 96 games thus my statement for them being the best 2 teams. Get over it.
never said you weren't a fan... or you were a bandwagon fan. i just said it's typical of the AL fans and particularly the ALeast fans to discredit any team in the NL. that's what you did.
The Rockies are on an incredible roll, there's no disputing that. But if you are objective, 3 maybe even 4 of the top 5 teams in major league baseball played in the AL this year in Boston, Cleveland, and the Yankees. I understand that saying this may not be the most popular thing since this is a Houston (and national league city) board, but the NL really didn't have any dominant powerhouse teams like an '86 Mets or even '04 Cardinals - ones that won over 100 games. A lot of parity in the NL this season which makes for competitive races but no dominant teams.
What I dont get is how if you are a Red Sox fan, you are automatically "Bandwagon" now. Been pulling for the Sox for a long time. I do understand that it seems like everyone is discrediting the Rockies. Im not. After the Cardianls last year, I saw. Anyone can win this thing. You just have to get hot at the right time, and Colorado is. I think the Rockies need to get at least a split at Fenway to have a real shot at the Sox. Beckett & Schilling in those first two games isnt going to be easy. But crazier things have happened...
a lot of parity all the way around. i didn't see a dominant team anywhere relative to years past, manny. AL nor NL. no 100 win teams this season anywhere.
The Rockies are a very good young team that found themselves. I think you're likely to see this team in the playoffs for years to come, if they can keep Holliday around. And I'd argue they're easily the most dominant thing I've seen in the playoffs so far. 7-0. The most dominant team over the past month, for sure. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2007/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=3068839 But there's nothing fluky about the team that has strung together that 21-1 streak. If there is, how could we explain all this? • The Rockies led the league in hitting. • They had the highest fielding percentage in the history of baseball. • They led the league in ERA after the All-Star break. • And they have the best record in the National League since May 1, June 1, July 1, Aug. 1, Sept. 1 and Oct. 1.
the rockies are on a roll and i'll be pulling for them but i don't see it happening for them. this series will come down to pitching and the rockies pitchers haven't faced a lineup like the red sox. i hope i'm wrong but this series could be a short one.
brandon webb would be the #2 guy in the red sox rotation. he'd be the #1 guy in the yanks rotation. he'd be the #1 guy in the indians rotation. everyone will have trouble beating beckett. no doubt. but past that, the rockies have absolutely faced better than schilling this season...they faced him many times in the person of brandon webb. they also played chris young, jake peavy and the padres quite a bit. i realize those guys don't get ESPN run like the Sox do...but those guys can pitch.
^^please max. i'm not questioning the rockies lineup as much as i think the red sox can flat out hit> i just don't see the rockies staff holding them down. i agree the rockies can also hit but the sox hit and pitch better than the rockies IMO, but i hope i'm wrong.
hey what's with the rolly eyes??? i misread your post. you said you didn't think rockies pitchers had faced a lineup like that...i thought you were talking about rockies pitchers facing red sox pitching.
Big effect. Remember what a week off did to the Tigers last year. Rooting for the Rockies....picking the Red Sox in six.
historically, it's overwhelmingly worked the other way. it's been a benefit or of no effect, because the team with the longer wait won the WS more often than not.
the eyes were for the implication that because the red sox are on ESPN all the freaking time, that i couldn't distinguish the hype from what i see from my own observations of both teams. no biggie though, i prolly shouldn't have used an emoticon as i was not even remotely insulted. GO ROCKIES! but again, the rockies pitching has not seen a lineup like the sox.
