It's on Classic Sports right now.
I'm sure many of you remember where you were when the USA pulled out the biggest upset in sports history.I was 14 years old, sitting in my grandparents living room. For me,this is the only sporting event that eclipses the Rockets titles.Watching this sends chills up my spine....makes me proud to be an American.

I've never seen this game from start to finish before. Watched a period of it last night. Just amazing. Someone related it to a high school team beating the New England Patriots (or any Super Bowl champ).

HBO had a great documentary about the Miracle on Ice, the name of which escapes me now. Lots of interviews with the US team as well as the Soviets and guys like Marv Albert and other media members.

Great documentary about a great story.

When I saw "Miracle On Ice," I thought you meant one of those shows/plays they act out. *shudders*

I've never seen it, but I plan on watching "Miracle" sometime soon. Kinda seems like it has a "Remember the Titans" feel to it where guys have to come together. That can only be a good thing as "Titans" is one of the best movies.

Even though I was only 10 years old, I sat and watched the entire game at my grandparents. I was not a hockey fan at all, but after watching the start of the game I sort of became captivated. As the game went on you could see the young kids gaining confidence. A true moment in history frozen in my mind.

From what I remember about my childhood, it was the first time that I remember most people collectively feeling good about America as a nation. The first ten years of my life saw the retreat from Vietnam and the fall of Siagon, Watergate, oil embargos and lines at the gas station, wild inflation and the Iran hostage crisis on Nightline everynight. Other then the country's Bicentenial celebration, it is the first time a remember a true national celebration with flag waving. The nations mood seemed to turn and the nation was ready to believe Ronald Reagan that the USA was still a great nation.

Seems silly to put so much on a silly game on ice, but the victory still reverberates through America's memory to this day.
