Cool, nice to see some videos of Ming.

For the first one that's 10megs, you'll need to install divx 5. You can get from www.divx.com.

    Great post!

His mobility and quickness impressed me. His outside shot was above average for a 5.

He needs work on vertical jump badly, though. I would like to see more size on his upper frame (his upper body is the size of a 6 footer!).

Who are the black guys playing in the CBL? If the are American, or speak English, we need to get some honest opinions from them!

    Later,

OH, I FEEL A HELL OF A LOT BETTER NOW!!

    Very impressive!

Yao has an impressive set of tools, and if he really has a desire to get better, what's the problem? The only thing I'm worried about now is his health, unfortunately true giants like Yao historically wear down easily in the NBA, and don't have much longevity.

And as far as how the competition looks, they're at least comparable to high-level JUCO\Div II or mid-level\low-level Div I. He'd probably due very well in a good Div I program.

If Yao were a HSer, would there be as much of a debate?

    Wow, that was very impressive.

Much more athletic than I thought he was, and he did several of things that Bradley could only do in his dreams. I'm talking about the play were he knocks the ball out of the other players hands at half court and dribles it the other way for a dunk. Kinda reminded me of Olajuwon on that one. I also saw the comparisons to Arvidas with his passing. Very nice court vision. He also had a decent little turn around shot. I definately feel better about his skills! :)

Thanks for the kind words. It sicks me people are just taking a page from someone, and saying he's 3 point shooting center. Well, you can easily see he's not. His teamates include Former NBA players like Benoit of Uta, and American player who cannot quite make teh NBA yet, hoping to attract attention by playing there.

yeah, those are players who tried to get into the NBA

i forget the exact rules but i believe a CBA team is only allowed 2 "foreigners" on the court at any time and they have time restrictions as well.

CBA basically got a lot of players that have a long way to go.. one of my favorite is God Shammgod .... just love that guys name

ahh...these videos alleviate some of my fears as well. Although I can see him getting into foul trouble often his first season. It looks like he depends on his height to get offensive rebounds a bit too much as he went over the back of some players a little too often in these videos. In the NBA, the competition will be a bit taller and more athletic, so he will have to work harder on getting position rather than just grabbing boards over people. But that is just nitpicking, and certainly something he can learn. Now I love Ming!

Real one player won't play this for me. I have a cable modem. It says there are no updates to support this comment.

How do I play this? With Window media player?

Be nice. I'm not very computer literate.

    Thanks

I think you need WM player. The first one is10megs, you'll need to install divx 5 for it. You can get from www.divx.com.

The best way is to right click and save, then open with WM player or DIVX player.

Yep, try using windows media player.

Also, for the 10meg video file, you will need to install the divx 5 codec. You can find it at www.divx.com.

    The download page is here.
Choose the free divx player without the ads, and click download.
Run the install program and once it's done, you should be all set.

(Note: This install is for windows only, there are versions for mac and linux on that site also.)

I try to use Windows Media Player at get the following message...any help?

You have encountered the following error while using Windows Media Player:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Error# C00D10B3

Windows Media Player cannot play this file.
Windows Media Player cannot find the file. Items in Media Library are links to digital media files that are stored on your computer, a network drive, a removable storage card, an Internet server, or another location.

This error message usually indicates the link from an item in Media Library to its associated digital media file is broken. Links can be broken for one of the following reasons:

A link to a temporary file from the Internet cache (a file from the Temporary Internet Files folder, for example) was added to Media Library and that file was later deleted.

Hmm... Try right clicking the video linkand choosing save as from the popup menu. That will save a copy of the video to your hard drive. Then try playing it from there.

Does windows media player complain when you try to open a different video file or does this only happen when you try to view the videos on that website?

If there was a HSer who was 7'5" and could do the first two things on that highlight reel (a baseline spin move to his left and an over-the-head pass in traffic) there would be no debate whatsoever. That's why the whole competition level argument is ridiculous. This is a 21-year-old with potential. May or may not work out -- that's no different from Kwame Brown, Eddy Curry, or Tyson Chandler. But watch these videos -- there's talent there (despite that one horrible outlet pass :) )

And p.s. -- Yao does dunk. Whoever started that "Yao must be soft since he doesn't dunk out of respect for his opponents" stuff must not have watched the clips. There are several times here that he dunks when he could have layed it in.
