To me, posters on this board has brought the idea of Ming not being able to play in the Rocky Mountain Revue. Personally , I really don't care about him playing in it or not. I know a lot of people are anxious to see him in action and have a chnce to see him against nba competition. While I'm not totally against him playing in it, I think it really doesn't mean as much as we might think. If the RMR really helped the Rockets and the coaches evaluating the progress of players, then Dan Langhi should have replaced the injured Rice and struggling Maryland alumni (Morris and Williams) much earlier than he did. He was clearly the best player on the RMR team, but when the season started, he was regulated to il. What i do expect out of Ming is to do something Cato could not do last yr, report in basketball shape. With all the playing that Ming will have done this summer, I expect him toshow up in very good shape ad not wait untl Jan/Feb to ge into decent shape. To me this is very important towards the developement of Ming more than the RMR.
i agree, the only real benefit of him being at the rmr is us getting to watch him play. either way he gets his excercise in and i believe against international competition which is atleast better than the cba. more of a concern though is how much of the pre-season he'll miss and if this is going to be a reoccurring thing. is it just for his rookie year or what?
Good points, leebigez. I agree with you on this topic. If the RMR was really that great, why didn't Langhi get more of an opportunity than he did. Don't tell me it was because he was hurt and that he ran his mouth off at Rudy. Okay, maybe that was a part of it, but his play at the RMR shouldn't have been viewed by anyone as a "promotion in playing time" for him. I think with Ming playing in these tournaments for China, he will be more than ready when the season starts. The only thing useful about the RMR for him would be an exposure to the team's plays, but then again, he would be running them with TMo, Torres, Tierre, etc. and not with Francis, Mobley, and probably not with Griffin either.
i think it would benefit him to play in RMR jus so he can get a feel for some of the guys he'll be playing with. jus becaue the difference of the level of competition im pretty sure he wont have to be in as good of shape for the asian games as he would have to be to play in the NBA. however if he can be ready, knows his teamates well, and is decent shape by the start of the season i really dont care what he misses in the offseason.
Isn't it the case that Yao will be preparing for the World Games in Indianapolis instead of the RMR? If so, he'll be going against Ben Wallace.
I think it would benefit him to have me take a photo of him. It would also benefit him to hear me say "damn, you're tall".
Achebe, If you know : 1) How much do RMR tickets run? 2) How do the tickets work? If you buy a ticket, is it for the whole day or for one event, or something else? 3) Can you buy the tickets in advance? If you can't answer these questions, I'll be forced to call up the evil Jazz offices and find out. Don't make me do that.
RMR has never really done anything for us. Just gets the ball rolling early and some scrubs a chance to find the NBA. Will be more useful to watch YM in the world games. Decent competition there, especially compared to the RMR.
DoD: 1) How much do RMR tickets run? $5 2) How do the tickets work? If you buy a ticket, is it for the whole day or for one event, or something else? All day. 3) Can you buy the tickets in advance? Good question, I don't know the answer though. Moe? Is anybody there? Moe?
