One thing I noticed about yao when watching the games is when everytime he's on the bench and the rockets score or make a decent play, he normally is the only one on the bench with his fist pumping and mouth open, rooting his teammates on...our bench used to go nuts on every good play during the championship years... Also another small thing I noticed, ever since Charles played for us, we stopped low fiving each other after free throws...Yao seems to be the only one low fiving everybody after they shoot freethrows...I think this has some correlation with this to the low level of team unity over the years...they just don't see to have that 'all for one, one for all' mentality anymore...
Moochie is always cheering on the Rockets while hes' on the bench. If you think that Yao is the only one doing it, then you must be only watching Yao.
Don't worry it happens to us all. As i have matured into fatherhood i have become scared of how much I really am like my parents. Kinda sux huh?
i watched the nba action of hong kong today even they said that steve francis n yao ming dont talk much in pratice n they think its because yao ming is getting so much attention n this show is an offical nba acton of hong kong so i think this is true but i really wish they will get along n be good friend in the future. the show website is www.hkatv.com
I am all for some healthy rivalry..as long it spurs them to controbute more for the team to win. Game in Seaatle was cool because Ming provcided the passing spark and Steve did the scoring damage. Se what some competition can do for Cato.....even Cato.
Yeah, you're right....moochie and Yao...and I'm only basing it on what I've seen on TV...the rest of the team looks halfway asleep...
I don't see this as the case, its not like Yao is taking shots away from Francis or playing time. Francis is having his best year so far and that might be contributed to the additon of Yao. Franchise is fine he is not jealous he will be all star, he has a shoe deal. What is there to be jealous of??? I can see other Rockets being jealous of Yao b/c he is taking playing time from (KT Eddie Cato Mo Collier) but Franchise is not effected, he just wants to win
There might be some truth in that report. I don't know what kind of person Steve is, but so far Ming has received too much more attentions than he is due. Of course it is not Ming's fault, but it is natural for Steve to get jealous. Case in my mind? Pippen or Drexler's jealousy over the attention Barkley received. I hope Ming can become a player that qualifies all the attentions which will make Steve's jealousy (ASSUMING it is there) disappear. Otherwise, Rudy will have a hand full. On a side note, I am not sure if you guys have noticed that. In one play during the early first quater of the game against Seattle, one guard made an entry pass to Ming when there was a 2nd defender at Ming's blind point which caused an immediate turnover by Ming (the ball was stripped away by the 2nd defender). Rudy called a timeout right after that. I was actually shocked by that entry pass: either the guard was too stupid or he was trying to humuliate Ming. Maybe I was reading too much into that play, but that play was really disgusting.
I don't think Pippen or Clyde had problems with Charles because of jealousy. Any problems they had existed largely because it's hard to be Charles Barkley's teammate - the guy has a boisterous personality that often rubs people the wrong way. As far as Francis and Ming go, I just don't see any evidence for jealousy there, quite the opposite in fact, and it kind of amuses me that people constantly seem to get paranoid about Francis' state of mind
just earlier when the rockets going against kings steve was kinda ignoring yao but steve was pissed so i dunno and yao was telling him something
I don't know if it's this thread or what but watching the game last night there might be some validity to it. Ming would go to give Francis a five at the free throw line and Francis turned and walked away. I saw Ming talk to Francis several of times and Francis didn't seem acknoledge him. Probably just frustration on Francis's part for losing but noticable.
Well if you where Steve you wuld do the same thing, because it is hard to understand Chinese when you don't speak a word of it. Realy though, they look like they like each other. They give high fives to each other and comuniate. I don't see any problems between them. Plus I don't see Yao being a Superstar so why would Francis be upset with Yao?
Did anyone see Steve on ESPN Friday night (halftime of Game 1)? Of course he's gonna be positive about Yao to the national media but I didn't get any feeling of animosity. Maybe one or another of the players is feeling jealous/left out (Cato?) and Steve doesn't want to appear to play favorites to the thinner-skinned and lesser-talented players...?
Finally, I am going to watch my first Rockets game in the arena this Friday when they play against Hornets (Damn, I hope Hornets can be realigned to the west conference so I can see more Ming). Guess I will get there early and see the chemistry between Ming and Steve IN MY OWN EYES from the warm-up. Shrimpie
dude i have never been to a rockets game which REALLY SUCKS and uhh hopefully ill go to at least one game this year yipee!
