Milton Berle Dead 'Mr. Television' Dies at Age 93 The Associated Press L O S A N G E L E S, March 27 — Milton Berle, the acerbic, cigar-smoking vaudevillian who eagerly embraced a new medium and became "Mr. Television" in the dawn of the video age, died today, a spokesman said. He was 93. Berle died at 2:45 p.m. at his home after a lengthy illness, said publicist Warren Cowan. His wife, Lorna, and several family members were at his side. Berle had been under hospice care for the past few weeks. He had been diagnosed with colon cancer last year. "He was responsible for the television set in your home today," Cowan said. Actually, it was his nephew Marshall Berle that managed the band which is how they got him to appear in the video for Round and Round.
