I was raised on whole milk but when I started dating my girl I switched to 2%. Over the past few months, I have switched to skim milk which I started using with my protein mix and gradually mixed it in with cereals and cooking. I think I'll be sticking with it now. I honestly expected some type of taste difference but there really is none that I notice and skim milk is about 15% cheaper than whole milk and fat free. What type of milk do you use on a most regular basis?
I grew up on 1/2% milk (that's right half percent). I've since switched to no milk at all. I take calcium pills instead. When I do consume milk, on rare occasion, I like whole.
Whole milk gives me the ****s. I was raised on half percent, but now I drink skim. Skim milk is kind of like diet soda - once you get used to it, you can't really tell a difference.
grew up on whole but switched to 1% five years ago when i got married. have to drink the heb organic brand though. i really don't like the regular stuff. also can't stand to drink skim milk and whole tastes pretty heavy to me now. probably drink at least 3-4 glasses a day including any protein shakes.
You know, that's a really good way of putting it. A couple I am friends with where the male uses whole milk and the female uses skim told me that skim milk is just half whole milk, half water. That comment kind of scared me off because he was around somebody who used it regularly. The taste may be a little different but it was nothing like he described and once you get used to it you don't know. Now, once I got used to diet sodas, regular sodas seemed too sweet or syrupy for my tastes. I wonder if regular milk will end up not tasting good as well.
2%, but I really only use it for cereal and cooking. Though, with a pregnant wife and a 3 year old, we're going through multiple gallons a week.
Does Whole Milk mean 100% milk? If it is, there seems to be a MASSIVE drop-off with your other options. 100%, 2%, 1/2%, 0%? Shouldn't there be a 50% or a 25%, at least?
I drink 30 oz. of skim milk daily - mixed into 3 different protein shakes. Obviously, I spend a fortune on milk. I was raised on skim milk, drank whole milk when I got to college (b/c my parents never let me drink it as a child), then switched back to skim milk as an adult b/c it was healthier.
I've heard people say this before, but it's obviously not true. If you take a half cup of whole milk with let's say 4g of fat and mix it with half a cup of water, you get a full cup of liquid that still has 4g of fat. There is no amount that you can dilute the milk so that it no longer has fat in it. It's called skim milk because if you let the dairy sit right after milking, the fat will rise to the top and can be skimmed off the top. I'm a 1% milk user, which is not one of the poll options.
I'm 1% milk user as well! I was raised on milk, practically...I loved milk and still do! I couldn't drink any low fat milk because it tasted nasty but I recently started drinking low fat organic milk by HEB (Central Market). It's really good.
The percentages just involve the percentage of butterfat which must be in each type of milk according to the USDA/FDA. Whole milk must be at least 3.25% fat, lowfat varieties contain.5%-2% and skim milk must be less than .5% fat. 2% milk just means it contains 2% butterfat, it doesn't mean there is only 2% milk in the container combined with 98% of other ingredients.
Also, I guess I've never paid enough attention to notice 1% milk. What color does it come in? I know whole milk is in red labels, 2% is in blue labels, and skim is in pink labels. What color does 1% milk come in or .5% milk come in?
Thats funny as fu**! haha I prefer whole personally. Switched to 2% cause of my ex wife and now am back to whole. That sh** used to get chugged straight from the gallon when I was younger, now I wish they made beer by the gallons. oh well KEGS RULE!!!
I've never really liked cow's milk. Always gave me a queasy feeling. The only kind of milk I ever drink is plain almond milk or chocolate soy milk.
