From this day forth, we should refer to Mike James as "Mike f'n James." Everyone on this board knew this guy could play when we got him at the trade deadline, but he has been absolutely clutch. I can't count how many big shots he hit in the 2nd half. Seems like every time Dallas got close, James was there to slow down their momentum by knocking down a jumper. He was 7-13 from the field for 16 points in only 26 minutes! Every championship team needs a spark off the bench, and I think he's ours. The Vinnie "Microwave" Johnson analogy works as does the Sam Cassell comparison. Mike f'n James.
Just read in an article, that as soon as the game ended and he went into the lockerroom he went and grabbed his Championship Ring. He made a statement about this is where they are headed.
Not taking anything away from his performance tonight, he played great. But let's face it - he's a ball hog. If he hits 1 or 2 shots in a row, he thinks he's hot and starts launching them. Tonight he was hitting them, but he can't do that every night. Bad shots, especially down the stretch in close games, hurt and usually end up costing the game. Once he learns some more self control, Mike F'N JAMES.
The guy was just simply awesome! He was a gunner when the Mavs get some drive going. After tonights game, the Rockets play like a real championship contender. 94-95' season coming 6 seeds on the playoff it's just like "Deja Vu", all over again!!!!
He's not a ball hog. He's a shooter, with point guard skills. He has always looked for his shot and if it's there, he'll keep shooting, as he should so stop your b****ing. He's benefitted the team far more than he's hurt the team.
He can score. He drove in..got easy layups on this horrible defense. He played hard..good defense...and yeah we needed scoring. We need him to come off the bench and score for us. Or create..just get the offense going and the points increasing. I loved him tonight. TWO CHAMPIONSHIPS IN A ROW! I dont' think we can beat the Heat..or wow Celtics are owning..I hate Celtics lol. I'm still not sure we'll win the next game. Mavs are gonna come back with different strategy. But I BELIEVE. LET'S GO ROCKETS!!!!!!! It seriously seemed like we were better than them tonight. The refs helped them come bakc..and we should have won by like 30 lol. Tmac, Mike James, and Ryan Bowen were fantastic. Everyone else..EVERYONE did good and contributed. Wonderful!!
No, he's just a player that wants the ball in his hands when the pressure's on and that is exactly the kind of players you are looking for in the playoffs. There were long stretches in the second half of game one when it looked like no one other than McGrady and James on the Rockets wanted to touch the rock. You look for the players that want the spotlight under the pressure at this time of year and James was one of those players for the Pistons and so far so good being one of those players for the Rockets. And to the thread starter....love the thread title. That got a couple of chuckles out of this Rockets fan.
While I agree to an extent, I was getting a bit nervous because Tracy seemed to get neglected a bit while James was finding his range. It worked well in this game but if he's not hot and he effectively cools off Tracy by not getting him the rock when he's calling for it (happened twice by my count) then there could be problems. Luckily, Tracy had his A game today.
I know this should go to McGrady, but him coming off the bench, his nick besides Mike f'n James should be "Mr. Instant Offense"!
That's what I'm talkin about, Baqui99. T-Mac won the game for the Rockets and was the best player, but James was the MVP in a way. There was a short stretch where it seemed like he was the only guy hitting for the Rockets. He was so huge. If he hadn't made his shots at the crucial point when he did, the Mavbricks probably would have tied it up or even taken the lead and taken the momentum. Also, his name could maybe even be "Mike f'n James, b****!" That's awesome. I can't wait to see his stellar play again in game 2. One of the times today I got pumped up the most was after he hit a 3, and then they showed his emotion on the replay. I was screamin' just like he was. Gotta love his heart.
Baqui -- once again you steal concepts from Hornfans. Every other thread over there is titled [First Name] [F'n] [Last Name]. Be original for once.
Mike James. Mike James. Mike James. The man is clutch. Clutch, my friends. Even before I knew it, my wife said, 'I'm Mike James, B!tch!', and that about made me a fan. The guy is cold. Long live Carrol Dawson. J
And if his shot isn't there (which *gasp* it isn't every night), should he keep shooting? Didn't think so. He had a great game. IIIIII know. No one's "b****ing" about him. Fact is, he takes some shots he shouldn't be taking and tonight made shots he probably wouldn't usually make. Newsflash - MJ doesn't shoot this well every night. If he did I reaaaaalllllllyyyy don't think he'd still be coming off the bench. Just wait til this game 1 win ecstacy wears off and he comes back down to earth. We'll see if you're still riding him then.
