His stats are less than reliable because he had to play for the Grizzlies. Anybody's numbers would go down battling with such serious depression. As for Memphis, I wouldn't start Gooden to start his rookie season. I'd open with C Wright PF Gasol SF Battier SG Dickerson PG Williams or possibly C Wright PF Swift SF Gasol SG Battier PG Williams Gooden needs some stripes before he should start. Memphis now has the luxury that they don't have to play their rookies to field a competitive team.
What is your problem with Cuttino man? Did he do something to your baby sister or what? You're a hater man
I have no problem with Cat. He single handedly kept us in games last season (which is somthing I will admit Michael Dickerson can not do). I guess it came across that way but what I meant is that having Cat, there is really no point to bringing in Dickerson. They both should be starters on an NBA team. Both have skills that the other does not.
not only is he a hater, he's flat out wrong. cuttino always has been and always will be a better player than dickerson.
Are you crazy? Dickerson is a decent athlete and all but he is not nearly as good as Cat. Not to mention..isnt he coming off a bad knee injury? Dickerson served his purpose in Houston...he helped us land Francis. Buh bye.
We are not getting Dickersion period. No way are the Rocks gonna pay 7.5mil to a guy who will play 10 min. a game max. Soon we will be rid of Dale Curry, um, I mean Glen Rice's contract and we will have $$ for Griffin, Boki, and Ming. Would you want to loose any one of those players for Michael Freakin Dickerson? Like NJRocket said, the greatest think Dickerson has and will do for the Rockets is get us Francis.
Exactly! Dickerson makes what? 7+ mill... He coming off of a serious knee injury.... He is not the player that Cat is... nuff said......
Au contraire. That is why you aren't an owner. And that is why you don't have the money! Jeff- I think you posted the article I am talking about. Do you recall that article?
I think all owners are filthy rich. The fact that they dont want to go a couple million over the cap is ridiculous IMO.
I agree with you. Drayton annoys the crap out of me for that reason. I voted for the stadium because I thought he would open up the purse strings. He is now $300 million richer and yet he has not increased the budget! What a joke! That is what you a call a politician.(a crook) Les admittedly cares more about winning than profits. But he is not going to throw money away.
You mean like Portland? How are you going to know that you will win a championship? Does your chance of winning equal you spending double for every dollar that exceeds the luxury tax? I do not believe that the Yankee principle of out-spending your opponents will work with the same successin the NBA as it does in MLB. As per my example of Port( MLB has quite a few examples of failure as well but this is not the proper forum to discuss that.... ). I just find myself in a moral dilemma when I start spending other people's money. Les will do, as he always has, what is best for this team. I know he would surpass the luxury if we absolutely needed to.
I hate seeing Drayton's name. I cant believe you brought his name up because now I will be miserable for the whole day. That b*stard is CHEAP!! GO LES!!
With MoT, Cato, and Rice all having huge contracts, Moochie being overpaid, Ming, Francis and Griffin likely getting max contracts, Kenny and Cuttino likely getting a big raises soon, and Nachbar possibly getting a big contract if he turns out as good as expected, I think Les will probably be spending A LOT more over the cap. I really don't think we need 12 star players each getting paid star money.
Good summary. Anytime someone else wants to add another big contract, we should point them to this post.
NFL owners....no doubt about NBA owners....yes quite a few are reaping huge dividends while a few are suffering a bit MLB owners ...... this is the classic tale of the haves and have nots. MLB has screwed themselves by allowing such high salaries of guaranteed money with very little return on the investment. A few owners such as Steinbrenner and Hicks has signed players without regard for the salary structure of the league. At least the player's union in the other sports cared enough about the game to some spending constraints on the owners to keep the game solvent. MLB players want ME to feel sorry for them because they don't make enough money when they make more per game than I make in a year. They have all the benefits and none of the liability.
