I'm trying to give tech support by phone to a friend, and I need some help. He has created a web page using MS Publisher, but when he sends the page to someone, IE opens the file but will not display any of the pictures. Whenever he exports the file, the only option he is given is "save as a web page, filtered". I believe it's the filtering that is causing the problem. How can he turn off the filter so the pictures show?
Behad, I really don't use Publisher, so I am not sure how effective my help here will really be... I don't think Publisher embeds pictures into the HTML file, as is done in Word files. I think when you save as a web page, Publisher (much like IE does) generates a html file (for example, publisher.htm) and a corresponding folder with either the same name or something similar (like publisher_files) which contain any linked pictures, sounds, etc. My guess is that he is either 1.) only sending the html page (and thus not getting the pictures) or 2.) not generating the extra folder which contains them (maybe this has something to do with the option you mentioned). Hope this helps, x34
He had to stop for now. We'll continue again on Monday. If he does not have it working by then, I'll upload it and we'll go from there. I think x34 has the right solution, but he did not have time to deal with it. Thanks anyway.
I have used MS Publisher to create web pages. x34 is certainly correct. Your friend needs to make sure that all of the files are uploaded and properly referenced.
