moes is on top of his football game so I am willing to bet he has seen more than 2-3 Cardinal games. I believe an argument could be made for both players as the tops at their positions. I do believe that Fitzgerald's coming out party was in the playoffs and that is what made people really pay attention to him.
Oh yeah, I've only seen the Cardinals play like twice. Excellent assumption to base an argument on. Only a blatant ****ing homer would watch the Playoffs last year and say Larry Fitzgerald isn't the best receiver in football. Plus as far as regular season goes, I'm a fantasy football player and I can tell you Fitz is as consistent as it gets. Johnson still has 2-3 stinkers per season.
NFC West vs AFC South. That's why you get the fantasy "stinkers" with AJ and not Fitzgerald. I'm not going to say either one of them is better, but they were the two best in the league last year. You can't say Fitzgerald is better just because his team made the playoffs. Not in this case. The Cardinals won ONE more game in a weaker division and made the playoffs in a weaker conference. If you swapped teams with AJ and Fitz, AJ would've been the one getting all the praise in the postseason. 2 of his "Stinkers" last season were against Jacksonville and Oakland. Two teams with 5-11 records. Granted, Nnamdi Asomugha is the best cover man in the league, but I like Fitzgerald's body of work in his career so far a little better than Johnson's. He's been a bit more consistent and he catches more touchdowns. Plus the whole "double coverage" thing is overblown, they move him to opposite sides of the field to exploit certain matchups just like anyone else. If it makes you homers feel any better, Johnson is the best receiver in the AFC. I'm looking forward to The first Sunday in October when he faces Nnamdi again to see if he can muster more than 2 fer 19 this time.
Man, Fitzgerald is going to put up monster numbers if Boldin is indeed traded. I watched about 6 Cardinals games last season and Boldin stole so many touchdowns.
It's not about forty speed, it's about the ability to get separation. Crabtree can do that and he plays faster in pads than he times in shorts. AJ can get separation, fights for the ball, and has deep speed, he is rare like Calvin Johnson. Crabtree will be good in the NFL, but perhaps a notch below AJ, CJ, and Fitzgerald (who is not the fastest but has ridiculous body control).
Speed has become so important thought. Im sure Crabtree is a phenomenal route runner and he has the size... but does he have the speed to break away? His speed is the difference between an Andre Johnson type player to a player like Vincent Jackson.
Speed isn't always necessary, that's why there are possession receivers. Anquan Boldin is a great example. He ran a 4.75 40 but is in the top tier of wide receivers in the league.
That's probably the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. You're using FF to back you up? Don't get me wrong, Fitz is a beast but he has two 1,000 yd WR in Boldin and Breaston last season. Any self respecting fan would realize that this open things up for everyone since you can double one WR, and man-man coverage is what most WRs of their caliber dream about. Outside of Walter on the other side, AJ is targeted every game and still gets his. To call someone a homer just b/c they don't agree with you is dumb, and then to base your argument on the fact that you play fantasy football is even dumber. No one is saying that Fitz isn't great. He got some post season exposure and made the most of it.
I don't see him being a franchise player as Andre Johnson is, but he's a damn good WR and will do great things in the NFL.
The one thing that fantasy football players must do is pay attention to players' stat lines, in fact that is the only thing it is about. I can see how playing fantasy football is relevant to the conversation based on that.
I think he might not be as great as AJ but he will be darn good. I am hoping my team (Raiders-no laughs) gets him.
Back to the topic, I believe the receiver he is most favorable too was metioned earlier in this thread and that player is Anquain Boldin. AJ is better than Fitzgerald IMO but not by much.
