i have officially boycotted Subway...

I used to be one of their most faithful consumers, for I bought a foot long veggie sub everyday for 2 years.

But about 3 months ago, they raised the prices on all of their sandwiches! A formerly $4.32 foot long veggie sub is now over $5.00!!! just for a piece of bread and some vegetables??? that's a joke!

i've started making them at home now, and boy am i happy at all the money i am saving. i wish i wasn't so lazy that i hadn't done it sooner! :(

Haven't been going to Taco Bell habitually because usually I have enough other alternatives. Are the Mexi-Nuggets out in Texas yet? The one where I found them the other day was in Lander, Wyoming (don't ask... out in the middle of nowhere).

About fast food salads: I agree, after the dressing it's no better than a burger and fries. And the burger and fries would have been cheaper, tastier, and more filling. Dry salads are kind of hard to eat; if there was some non-creamy dressing choice it might be OK. At the traditional burger/chicken places, the only truly healthy thing I know to eat is the wrap at Chick-Fil-A (with the lowfat Italian dressing, which you have to put on yourself - kind of a pain). It's not cheap either, but at least there's no way it could be bad for you.

So I don't know why these salads are such a big hit. Actually, I do know. Atkins diet. *sigh... waits for the low-carb craze to blow over after everyone gains the weight back*

The Subway teriyaki thing sounds good... may have to make an exception to my boycott of Subway (boycotted because the food isn't very good).

Actually, the salads (dressing included) are still better than a burger and fries. Some fast food burgers have 400+ calories in them.

The Wendy's salads fill me up (but I'm pretty little). And I'm not on the Atkin's diet or anything. That thing is a crock of **** (no offense). My aunt is on one similar to that (no carbs, dairy sugar-she eats nothing but chicken, fish, veggies and water). Granted, she's lost a lot of weight, but she looks like a skeleton and she's not in good shape. Any diet that cuts out any food group completely is not good for you.

So, pass the cheeseburger! :)

No, McDonalds ketchup tastes different then Wendy's ketchup though. Have you guys ever dipped Wendy's fries in McDonald's ketchup, or vice versca? It's damn gross. BTW, I hate when these restauraunts forget to give straws out... to pay em back, I get food from a different place, park in the parking lot, and eat there!

I've been eating the Deli Style Subways nearly every lunch for the last couple of weeks. Damn good, filling and cheap.

I've been trying to cut out as much cholesterol as possible lately, so whenever it is necessary to eat fast food I do one of two things:

Wendy's - Grilled Chicken Sandwich and a side salad (the low-fat ranch dressing is quite good).

Subway - Usually a 6" Turkey Breast with Baked Lay's, but that new Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki is pretty good.

Sonic Spicy Chicken Strip Dinner is well worth the $4.64...
Dairy Queen is a damn rip-off...$8 for 6 pc. dinner...what???
What's with all the random What-a-burgers on the way to Austin?
How are those BBQ places on the way to Austin?
Curly fries from Jack-in-the-box are the $hit
So is Popeye's crawfish, cajun rice & mashed potatoes
and LJS's big shrimp

Subway is a rip-off, Beck's prime is a rip-off
Popeye's chicken sandwiches give a funny aftertaste
umm...KFC blazing chicken strips are good...

I like the gravy. I substitute onion rings for the fries.

Never stopped off for food on the way except at the fast food joints in Bastrop. If I remember correctly, the KFC there is a buffet :D The Texas Grill (?) in Bastrop sounds intriguing with all the signs. I don't have the time or patience to wait. Anyone been? How about those "Chocolate covered..." places?

Agreed. But I guess that aftertaste is New Orleans style.

On the way to Austin... try a sausage sandwich from Meyer's in Elgin if you're going that way. (Southside Market is supposed to be decent also, but I haven't tried it.)

I like Popeye's shrimp poboy. Not sure if their stuff is really "New Orleans", but it's a lot closer than those "New Orleans" sandwiches from Wendy's, which are kind of gross.
