One thing this board has always lacked was the gimmick accounts. I love gimmick accounts......when done right.
Just got back in town so missed the collapse. I live less than a mile away from the Metrodome but haven't seen it yet. If I can ever dig my car out I will try to swing by and take a look.
Yeah I was at work and we had the news on the morning after the blizzard and we heard "breaking news" about the Dome. We were all just in awe watching it on KARE. The blizzard was so bad I ended up spending the night at work. I had to work that Saturday and Sunday, but couldn't get home without driving 50ft and getting stuck. Good times, good times.
In latest news last night another section of the Metrodome roof tore fell in and they still haven't cleared off all of the snow and ice off of the roof. The plan is to play the game at TCF Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus but that is filled with snow which they are frantically trying to shovel out, plus the field has ice on it and is frozen, the stadium has been shut down for a month, it only seats 50K (the metrodome seats 64K), has only about a third the suites, and doesn't serve alcohol. The backup backup plan is to play the game at either Ford Field again or maybe Indianapolis. The Vikings don't want that as those stadiums are likely to be filled with Bears fans and are suggesting possibly the Georgia Dome. Heck at this rate they might be playing in Reliant, the Purple can't do any worse than the Texans. Still hoping they play at TCF so maybe we can get a return to old time frozen tundra Joe Kapp football. <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/NiVlcjWBj00" frameborder="0"></iframe>
I think they have but on the news they are saying that for the moment they don't have alcohol. This might be that the infrastructure, taps and coolers isn't in place, or that the law doesn't take effect until next college season.
I always thought it was zero-tolerance against alcohol at TCF because it was on campus. Thats why it was allowed to be served at the Metrodome when they played there. Thats the last I heard though, not sure if there was any updates.
Just heard on the radio that the Vikings, NFL and U of Mn have agreed that no alcohol will be served at the game.
So fans will have to watch a crappy football team while freezing their asses off... and won't be allowed to drink?? I can't imagine that too many people will show up for this one
