Kelvin, Last year you were called out about your play by some of your teammates and replied by saying it wasn't your responsibiltiy. Well now it is. However you look at it your contract had an affect on Dream's decision. It's time you need to start earning your contract. With your help this team could be great. You don't need to do a Dreamshake or spank a hall-of-fame center. All that's required is that you give it your all. Block some shots (2.1 per game would be nice) and bang for some boards (8 or 9ish is acceptable) and you could help this team do damage. You have the size, potential and there's not too much competition for you to worry about. It's time you get off your @$$ pal. Gone are the days of staring an opponent down and thinking he'll be too intimidated to drive the lane, then repeating when it doesn't work the first time. No more 4 for 6 stats on dunks. Getting a rebound only to turn it over doesn't have to be in your repertoire any longer. There are no more excuses now's your time. Put down that whopper, jump in your pink machine, get to gym and improve your shape as well as your game and make us all believe that this mythical CATOMIC BOMB we heard so much about last off-season exists, if it's still possible. Sincerely, Wakko67 ------------------ I have seen much of the rest of the web. It is brutal and cruel and dark. CC.net is the light. what made us sign him for 7 years @ $42 M anyways? I remember we offered to him after he strung together a couple of 7 block games in the early season. I thought he was just a throw in in the Pippen trade. ------------------
My feelings exactly. Maybe Cato is like O'neal in Indy.Maybe he just needs a chance to play and log some minutes. It would also help if Stevie and Cat made the other players feel like they were in on the show. I've watched games last year when the Rockets were on a fast break,Anderson would be on one wing and mobley on the other and steve would pass it to his buddy.they can be buddies and good friends, but this team has other players also. Dream was also denied some of those passes. Thats the one thing about the new rules, now maybe Rudy will get rid of that horrible offense.Just think how effective Francis and Cat would have been with defenders fighting through picks trying to get to those guys. It would be nice to incorporate some of Utah's little man pick the big man screens. Taylor and the low post men could roll right under the basket for good high percentage shots instead of long jumpers. ------------------ everett
dear kelvin, i sincerely believe you have the ability to be a mini-mt.-mutombo. i also believe that you probably feel very isolated. part of it is the constant criticism you receive (albeit deserved). part of it is probably you feeling like you should be part of the offense (albeit not deserved, at this point). here's the thing. i - no - the entire city of houston needs you to morph. change from crapo to cato, please. if you can just give us 100% and play in, oh i don't know, 70-82 games, we'd be ecstatic. we'd also be a playoff team, which might mean more money to you. want to know why houston is up in arms about hakeem leaving? yea, reason #1 is that he is a legend, and is sucks to see your city legend bolt. reason #2, though, is because of the lack of production we've seen from you. if you were, oh i don't know, moochie norris or todd mccollough (short on talent, long on effort), it would be acceptable. but you don't even fall in that category. you are long on talent, and short on effort. i, personally, believe you'll turn it around this year. no one believes you will, and that will be your motivation. if you don't, though, you open yourself up to andre rison/lisa lopes type situations (think of hot flames, kelvin). if you don't you open yourself up to keith closss situations (think getting your ass whipped, kelvin). if you don't you be worse - in my book - than derrick coleman. sincerely yours (for the moment), verse
Dear Cato, Quit writing little children's books. Quit painting your car "I'm okay, you're okay" colors. Are you some sort of ****ing weirdo? It's time to be a man Cato. It's time for you to hate people. You're the presence in the paint. Get the damn ball. Intentionally hurt people that are going up for layups. Damnit, couldn't we have not wasted our time and traded Dream straight for Oakley? He'd shove you a thing or two about self respect "big man", phthththt. Kelly, you're the only thing holding this team back for a run to the playoffs. Humor us. Play dress up this year. Wear your uniform for 80% of the games. Call it girl pride, whatever. Just get the damn ball. Just block some shots. 8ppg, 9rbg, 2.2bpg is well within your capabilities. The ball should fall into your hands accidentally for at least 5rbg, you should accidentally block someone's shot once a game. Mildly pay attention another 15 minutes and I think that you'll have competent numbers. What do you say?
If you're going to write any message about Cato, it should be to Rocks management urging them to trade Kelvin as soon as humanly possible. I mean, since we've all been given a dose of reality now that Dream's gone, it's time for us to realize that Cato isn't going to amount to anything (in a basketball sense, of course). He's been in the league for 5 years now and all he's proven is that he just doesn't want it bad enough. With Dream's departure, that means more minutes and reliance on Kelvin, which only means more disgust and disappointment from us fans. Now I know that the Rocks have a MASSIVE hole at C now and need all the big bodies they can get, but considering Cato's heartless play the Rocks will be Center-less with him ANYWAY!!
Dear Mr. Kelvin Cato, You are the weakest link. Goodbye. Sincerely, VesceySux (yes, I know I spelled it wrong)
[ego-stroking self-congratulatory post] Woo-hoo! I just noticed I won the coveted "BBS Hot Topic" quote of the day spot on the front page of ClutchCity.net. Sweet. I'm going to Disneyworld. [/ego-stroking self-congratulatory post]
