Daniels isn't a point guard, he's a shooting guard. They tried to play him a point in San Antonio but it just didn't work out.
This could end up being a smart move for Portland and Mcginnis. I doubt Portland wants to extend Stoudemire's contract and Mcginnis is a pretty good fit for a team with too many stars and he comes fairly cheep.
yeah, maybe they are trying to get some role players. And Damon will be traded or som,ething..man i don't know. They are signing people without thinking of the result. What are they planning on doing. And Wallce is a free agent after this season. I think Wallce will bolt, i think they all know there team is fuc*ed up if they don't improve this season.
Isn't the rap on McInnis being that he wants to control the ball too much? Even if it's just a false reputation, he could've done better to sign with a team like Minnesota or Miami - heck, even Boston - where he would almost certainly see minutes and the chance to produce. I think it's all a sign that Portland is going to move Stoudamire, though. They've been unhappy with him ever since they acquired him and with a viable starter and backup to replace him, he's nearly expendable.
With these moves it seems to me Stoud and an SG (either Wells or DA --both too good not to start, where AD is a fine back-up accustomed to that role) should be on the block. Bottom line is from Portland's position McInnis is a good player at the MCE price, so it makes sense from their end even if it makes less sense for McInnis (but not if they told him he would start or Stoud would be moved). I smell a big trade for Portland.
More than a few teams will have significant cap room next year....well, four or five, anyway. Maybe teams like Portland (with too many players, I mean, let's face it) can trade for draft picks or whatever. Or maybe they'll just stay five deep at every position and flame out in the first round of the playoffs anyway...if they even get there (Rockets, Clippers, Suns nipping at their heels).
is it just me or does it make perfect sense for portland to trade all of that talent and $$ for kevin garnett?
In that case they are stockpiling on shooting guards: Daniels, Derek Andersen, Ruben "the Kobe non-stopper" Patterson, Bonzi Wells, Quintell Woods, Charles Smith... That's six!
Sheed, Bonzi and Stoudemire for KG. Makes sense to me. Portland still has McInnis and DA and loads of cash. Minnesota gets legitimate players for all positions. They trade Wally for Spree and a pg. Wolves are Nesterovic Wallace Smith Spree Peeler Bonzi Stoudemire Ward Portland is Sabonis KG A Davis, Kemp Pippen, Nanny Stopper DA, Q Woods. McInnis A.Daniels They could play KG at the three too, with Sabo and Davis up front. I don't know if McHale can pull the trigger on that kind of gangster team, though.
I hope you're wrong. I prefer both the Pups and the Jailblazers as first round flameouts. (Fans of those teams can say, "Well, at least we make the playoffs.") The Pups have a strong conservative streak on the so-called "character" issue (maybe after getting burned by both J.R. Rider and Starbury, the Pups also have an inferiority complex because few players really wants to go there). I don't know if they'd take Rasheed Head Case Wallace.
Both Ruben and Qyntel are small forwards. Charles Smith will probably be waived, so that leaves the Blazers with three SGs. And that's assuming Wells returns.
