Yao is better at communicating with teammates. I see Yao continuously encourage Head, Scola and Bonzi...

dude, for god's sake don't derail the thread.. where in the title does the thread mention Yao?? we are just talking about Tmac's improvement.. yes, Yao is a great unbelievable super communicator, but he isn't the subject of the conversation right now..

don't turn this into YOF vs. the world battle..

Those of us that play pick up ball get in the face of dude that misses layups and shoots crazy shoots or doesn't play D. So with the stakes much higher, I appreciate Tmac showing some testosterone instead of estrogen.

I don't think Tracy cares that much about the all-star game likes he use to. I mean hes be there 7 times in a row so its no big deal to him. The only think thats stopping Tracy from being one of the great players in nba history is that he needs a RING. If he can somehow get two or three which I know is hard I believe he will be remember as one of the top 10 players that ever played the game.

Anybody who's even been in management knows that different people require different approaches. Some people soar when they're praised. Some soar when you kick them in the ass.

Scola works his butt off and the vast majority of the plays he makes are smart ones. I don't think it's appropriate to glare at somebody who's working hard and happened to screw up. If you're going to criticize somebody then personally I'd rather hear something like "WTF, you messed up back there, watch out for that play next time" then have someone staring daggers at me.

One more thing: Scola's not really a rookie. He's adjusting to a different rule set, a different style of play and a different country but he's a veteran player. I think Yao mentioned in a recent interview that the team didn't make him do the rookie crap like carrying luggage. He deserves respect. Not only is he experienced but he gives 110% effort every night. If T-Mac is going to try to lead then he needs to step up himself, work as hard at trying to lead as he does at playing basketball, and do it the right way.

i remembered tmac got really frustrated when yao set him a pick up top and tmac went to the wing a got double-teamed, yao ran straight to the rim not looking at the ball and tmac passed it expecting yao to pop for the 18ft jumper. the pass got stolen the blazers were off running and you could see the frustration in tmac's body language after that turnover.

he was generally more frustrated and showed more emotion and leadership in this game than in other games.

man yao looked so scared after that one play where tmac passed it perfectly to him and he missed by laying it up isntead of dunking. when he tried to look tmac's way, u know he was afraid of what tmac is going to do. i thought that was funny.

While we're at it, I'd like to see an addendum to his contract where he looses 100k every time he uses the words "my supporting cast" in a presser. Makes my skin crawl.

i just dont feel that its right for tmac to be acting all frustrated to the players. some ppl say that its bc hes taking the leadership role.. where was his leadership at the beggining of the season??? as soon as he goes out with an injury the team gains fire and competetive spirit.. now that hes back he feels he can come and talk to the players about motivation? him being out is what gave the players motivation, they got the chance to prove themselves with out mcgrady there to cry for the ball and to bark orders.. i have a bad feeling that after some times he will spread his negativity and the fire this team built with out him will go away.. the only way this wont happen is if Yao stayes the leader and mclazy takes sort of a right hand man role bc Yao is a better leader.. Yao leads by example.. he works hard hard hard and is genuenly pleased to see his teamates do good.. i dont know if i can say the same thing about mcgrady

Especially to guys like Scola or even Yao. They seem like they won't take it personally at all because they demand so much out of themselves anyways.

Dude, what about the other guy who talked about Brandon Roy? At least Yao is a Rockets so he is more related to this topic about the team leadership. Right? What does Brandon Roy have anything to do with our team leadership anyway? Why are you so upset of that post? Is it because of the screen name of the poster? Or his broken English? It's kinda pathetic if you hate what a poster has said simply because of his screen name.

You are over-sensitive and very insecure about your own thread.

scola was playing BAD. i mean REALLY bad in the first half. u have to motivate him in that way. some players u can get away with that with.

with landry, u see tmac ENCOURAGING him ALL THE TIME. look at tmac's reactions after all of landry's dunks. he pumps his fists, he pats him on the head repeatedly...

scola's head was not in the game the past 3 games and he was very pathetic in teh first half of the blazers game. tmac had to get to him.

u would be afraid of scola got worse. but scola became a totally different player after tmac chewed him out at halftime.

Someone, maybe either Rick Adelman, should chew TMAC out when he just stood around, and did very little to contest the Portland Trailblazers guards flashing past him or shooting jumpers right in front of him.

And as far as his communications skills towards the press, IMHO he is not as diplomatic correct as Big Yao and always said things biting his own tongue.

That a good thing to hear, that TMac is encouraging his teammates. I've seen em do it before but he doesn't do it consistently, the thing about role players is that they feed of off morale, which is why they play better at home. It takes a true leader to carry his teammates in tough close road game situations both morally and on court through scoring. If Tracy is developing this skill its a great thing for us, specially come playoff time. I believe strongly in Tracy but there is room for improvement. I don't know if you guys are with me on this one, but I believe it should be Tracy who shud put it upon himself to guard the other team's best player in end game situations he needs to increase his defensive presence on the court. That "no-effort" attitude he has on offense works for him, it gives him a great swagger but on Defense its all about effort and "all-effort" attitude, he needs to realize that.
