Is there any concerns with Tracy McGrady's history of back problems? Everyone seems to be down on McDyss when his name came up about possibly being acuired. Backs are something you cant fool around with. It has ended some athletes careers.

We need to try to get a backup sg for Tracy if this deal goes through just in case he does go down with back problems for a couple of games.

Who is the best available to backup Tracy in the lineup?

I am not saying that he will not play a majority of the games during the season. However, It should be brought up that there is a history there. Will him being out for a couple of games mean a losing streak? He will be coming to the Western Conference where there will be a lot more capable big men where he will be slashing into.

Driving to the basket among the Trees of the West.

no, he sat out longer near the end of the year because Orlando was in dead last.

I just hope he does not come down with a case of plantar fasciitis like a couple of people seemed to have contracted after they got here.

McGrady's problems aren't even comparable to the McDyess situation. (and I'm still for the Rockets signing McDyess to the veteran minimum)

McGrady had those back problems because he had to carry the entire Magic organization on his shoulders every night. It will be less of a burden teaming with Yao and company.

exactly, thats why he missed so many games last season. Cause what was his point in coming back? Might as well tank and get the number one pick.

The spasms just seem to pop up. He is a young kid and I can't wait to see him in Rocket Red, but I am a little worried that someone soo young is having these types of problems. We need to sign a bruiser to protect him and Yao through the season. we need an "ENFORCER" for protection and regulationg the paint.;)

Last year, if it was a playoff run, he would've stayed on the floor more. They sucked. He sat. End of story.

If a guy misses 5 or 6 games per season, especially someone who is as athletic as he is, I don't see that as a major issue.

We saw what back problems can do to a season.

There is not a doubt in my mind that the T-Wolves would have been in the Finals had his back not given him problems.

I just would hate to see that happen to us when and if Tracy gets here.

I can't wait. But think we can be good enough to make a deep run in the playoffs with those two (Yao and T-Mac):)

    From an old article:

    http://espn.go.com/nba/columns/spears_marc/1482835.html

An aching back has been the major injury question for McGrady. But a recent MRI test has confirmed that his back's current injury is nothing more than a deep bruise and isn't similar to his more severe back troubles of the past.

"I am not having the problems I had the past two years," McGrady said. "This is from the elbow I received in the Lakers game (on Dec. 15). It's just a contusion, badly bruised. As far as what I've been going through the past few years, I've solved that problem. I found a doctor (in Orlando) and he got me on a machine that really stretches my back out and put my disc back in place."

Maybe we could bring the doctor tho Houston that T-Mac found in Orlando so that he can keep "putting his disc back in place"

    ;) :) :D

You are absolutely correct. There are plenty of top rated back specialist in Houston. All my worries are gone.

Just get this deal done and stop all of the waiting. We wait any longer and something may happen (other teams figure out a package):D ............

Let me ask you this: Would you have passed on Okafor because of his back history and gone with a less talented version in Howard? That's what the Rockets would be doing if they let McGrady's back get to them.

I'm worried that Orlando knows more to the story than we know regarding McGrady's back problems. there were games last season where he went down in pain and sat out for entire quarters after really minor contact to his back.
hopefully this won't end up like the LJ trade from charlotte to the knicks.

I want us to get McGrady, and I think we will, but let's not put our head in the sand. TMac has had some back issues and it may very well be an ongoing problem. What encourages me is the high level he's been playing at on the court and the fact that he's missed very few games. It would appear to be a short term problem, when it arises, and he comes back "good as new." I don't recall seeing him lying on the floor by the bench, ala Bird, hoping the spasms go away long enough to play for awhile.

I've had back surgery and, believe me, back problems are a pain. I think Tracy is worth the risk.

I'm not too concerned about T-Mac's back problems.

Carrying an entire team on your back is bound to cause some form of injury; thankfully, he won't have that dilemma in Houston.
