OK so this is a radical proposal...but I feel that it could be doable for this team. The Phoenix Suns rest Shaq on nights when they play teams they feel they can easily handle. Ex. Shaq sat against Chicago. The Reason: To prevent injury and make the most use out of him. Shaq has been doing well with his age.. As much as I love Mcgrady, I propose we implement this until he is 100%. When he is 100% feel free to play as many minutes as you want. This way he is playing in critical games and is not sitting out for multiple consecutive games.
shaq is much older than Tmac and has nothing to prove, TMac on the other hand has a lots to prove. We can not forget that we do not need to get stuck playing LA or Utah in the first round.
I think RA is trying to play Big 3 together to get the chemistry in the early season but it seems it grows slower than our 2nd unit.
If you're proposing to rest him just in general to prevent injury, then sure. We should try to limit their playing times as much as we can. If you saying this based off his performance in the last 2 games, then no. He was battling the flu. He had no elevation and was slow, not to mention still having knee issues. He just needs time to get over his ailments.
I don't think he should totally rest out of games, but maybe play a lot less minutes, so that he can still be used to playing in games. Rick did do that for him for the Clippers, and maybe he can keep doing it when playing with the lower echelon teams.
No I know of his sickness...I just want to get the most out of Mcgrady. I still believe he is a superstar as we saw in portland and Boston. I just think sitting him for a couple of weeks = not a good idea Playing him everygame = not a good idea UNTIL HE IS 100% THe only problem is that he might never be 100%
i would rest him for those reasons, it's early in the season, if you've got the flu, don't play. it makes us worse when we have him out there standing around playing like crap because he is sick. rest him for a few weeks, we've got two other stars who can carry the load i think. i just don't think this is healthy for tmac, to keep hobbling around on the court in pain. he said he will always be in pain, but he needs to work that knee out, build up strength and condition himself before he steps foot on the court, otherwise he is just a dagger in our offense.
A couple of possibilities in my eyes: Maybe we can rest him until Shane comes back, because Artest could probably take the load from Tracy. Luther could probably be SG, for a little while 'til Tracy comes back to full form. I think maybe Tracy could just play less minutes as well. Taking days off of practice isn't good, because your work during practice translates to your play on the court, so I believe he should practice hard, and rest a little bit during the games. Whether that means playing less minutes or taking a few games off is up to Rick, but I believe that it would help Tracy in the long run. I realize that Rick is trying to have Tracy in the rotation to explore all the flaws of the team, and how he should play the rotations. He wants our Big 3 to play together, and see how they play with one another. He needs to make those improvements, and work out all the kinks to perfection for the playoffs. Once he sees the team is finally playing great, and that there is some chemistry and offensive fluidity, then perhaps he can start to give Tracy a little bit more rest knowing that he's figured it out. Rick just wants to figure this team out, and he needs all the players to be healthy to do so, so that he can discover and observe all the teams' flaws and improvements, and workout the best rotations and plays for the team.
i don't see a problem with this at all.. we need him healthy or as close to 100% as possible as the season goes along... right now he's hurting the team more than he's helping
yeah exactly.. he's more effective when we play the weaker teams.. but those should be the nights he take off and rest up
the man has yet to miss a playoff game in his entire career. what is your concern? he may miss a 10-20 during the course of the season due to misc. injuries, but he always shows up to the playoffs and when his team needs him. i do agree that we can limit his minutes though. we are ok since we are stacked at the 2/3
This simply is just not true. He has good games against good teams (Boston, Portland) and bad games against bad teams (Clippers, etc) as well. I don't know how you guys come up with this stuff?
we should rest tmac a little bit more, but how about yao? Rest both of them and expect artest to lead us into the playoffs? Plus, is there any team that we gotta beat when we face them? just take a look at the games versus griz and thunders which we almost lost even with yao and tmac.
Rockets have JVG's offense so many years, role players rely on Tmac and Yao too much past years,Kobe can take over the game when their team need him.So can Tmac or Yao?So it is a problem,we need to play team basketball, just like Kobe,in the 1st and 2nd quarters let role players get more points, while in the 3rd an 4th quarters, someone must stand out.
