We have all had the pleasure of watch Mcgrady and Yao play. Live or on tape. So I curious fellow BBSers. If the Rockets had the #1 pick in this year or draft and both Mcgrady and Yao were both on the board (of course each player 21(or 18) years old and right out of college or HS or the Army), on talent alone who would you pick with the #1. Mcgrady or Yao?
I agree, McGrady was a project coming out of HS and Yao was considered a project as well but 7"6 Centers don't come around too much in this day and age.
Yao. Buy 1 get 2. We got Yao + Tmac + Swift and unloaded big contracts. Otherwise please refer to Toronto and Magic.
Tough question. I'm assuming we know what we know now? Even then it's a hard question because as amazing as T-Mac is, it's just a whole lot harder to find a quality center than a quality 2/3. Not to mention, having Yao on our team is why we have T-Mac. He is the rare talent that made Houston an appealing destion for McGrady. All of this without even getting into the financial benifits of having Yao on your team. I'd have to go with Yao, even though I seriously doubt Yao will ever be the caliber of player McGrady is.
Could I vote for Moochie? But seriously, I would have to go with Yao. The prospect of going with a 7'6 big man would be too much.
Yao. Quality big man brings quality swing man. Tough choice given Tmac's vastly superior skills. But you can't teach height.
Maybe if you ask.... Both T-Mac a Yao are free agents for the 2005-06 season and for whatever reason the want to play for houston. You as the GM of the Rox can only give max dollars to one, who will it be???? Now that is a tough question.
Well, it was Yao vs. Dream days ago, and now Yao vs. TMac. There were numerous polls last year about whether Yao or TMac should be the man. I know that these questions are valid. However, after being discussed a thousand times under different kind of thread titles, I am surprised that no one gives these threads a yawn and still take them seriously.
I don't know. The deciding factor for me is that I really think that Stro and Yao as a tandem will make this a dominant defense. I don't think you can say the same if you switch Yao out for T-mac.
