one thing not to overlook is TMac's impressive assist numbers...5+/game. this is not a selfish player; he rarely forces the action, and when you put together two selfless, yet potent scorers in Yao and TMac, you've got an incredible foundation on which to build on.

Again, if CD doesn't give it his all to swing this, he should be fired immediately.

If JVG and LA says to CD, 'Go for it' then he will. If not, he won't. CD will be given his marching orders so don't over credit or over blame him if T Mac is or is not a Rocket.

I hope CD is told to make it happen -- but not at ALL costs.

sorry to break it to you.. but you're wrong. CWebb wanted to leave, but we never offered him a contract and he was actually pretty mad at the rockets for that... i dont have the actual articles, but i distinctly remmeber him critisizing the rockets for not wanting him anymore.. he wanted to leave the city of sacremento, and i'm sure he still does. Basically, if we wanted Webber, we could have had him.. but we chose to resign moochie, MoT, Mobley (i think) and i cant remember what free-agent we signed that year... maybe shandon? also, i think we wanted to save money to give steve the max :)

You're absolutely right. C-Webb came out and criticized the Rockets for never pursuing him. Management chose to re-sign Maurice Taylor, Moochie Norris, and Shandon Anderson (traded for Glen Rice) that summer.

Great point. T-Mac is one of those rare players who can be selfless and yet be able to turn it up to score in crunch time if necessary. I think the only other player who is close to that is KG, and he only showed his clutch scoring ability this year.

sorry, what I meant was a more general, "we were never going to sign him", instead of "he was never going to listen to our offers"..

Wasn't McGrady injured a lot this year (or am I thinking of Vince Carter)?

i will never trade both SF and Cat to the same team. Imagine their new team plays the rockets, they will both drops 60points jack up 100 shots against us for the rest of their careers..... :(

30/100 for each of them...that sounds about right in terms of shooting percentage

seeing how they would go to the East i wouldn't care. Face their team twice a season and i would doubt we would ever see them in the NBA Finals. And lets not forget who we traded them for...Tracy McGrady. So i'm pretty sure even with 60 points b/t them, the Rockets would still win.

T-Mac a Rocket would be great. Would be one of the best moves the Rockets organization ever made. Better than Drexler, better than Barkley, better than when they got Francis from the Grizzlies, and a hellva alot better than whrn they got Griffin. T-Mac will only be 25 here on May 24th. 25! He is just now coming into his prime. His is only a year older than Yao is. Yao would be a much better player with T-Mac. And the Rockets would be much, much better. Go ahead, double and triple team Yao all you want, T-Mac will tear you apart for 40 points a night. Please get it done!

While I have been convinced that we should get a top tier PF from trading Steve, I don't think that there is any way we could pass up getting a re-signed McGrady for Steve.

What I want to know is, would this trade prevent us from getting Brent Barry? What if we signed Barry first?

Can anyone argue that Barry and T-Mac would not be a huge upgrade from Steve and Cat?

Getting T-Mac, as nice a dream as it is, might convince Les to go over the luxury tax. Might. T-Mac and Yao = Lots of Tickets Sold (because, hopefully, lots of wins?)
