I think orlando would want to trade tmac to the west and not to the competition in the east.

Honestly if you put yourself in you T-mac's shoes, there are a lot of team I rather be on instead of Phoenix.... And I am sure He has some kinda control on where he goes...

    Houston to Phoenix:
Cat, Cato, Piak, and future pick

    Houston to Orlando:
TE, and future houston 1st round

    Phoenix to Orlando:
Joe Johnson, future pick, Big, Jake, and Barbosa(sp)

    Phoenix to Housotn:
    this years 2nd round pick

    Orlando to Houston:
    T-Mac, Gooden, and Hill

    Orlando to Phoenix:
    this years 2nd round pick

    Phoenix:
    Cato
    Amare
    Shawn
    Cat
    ?

    Houston:
    Yao
    Mo/Gooden
    Hill/ JJ
    T-mac
    Steve

    Orlando:
    Big Jake
    Juwan
    ?
    Joe
    Barbosa

Phoenix: Gets better and more dept at 2, Marion and Cat makes for a nice one-two combo, with strong inside D and explosive with Cato and Amare, and extra and future picks are always a plus.

Orlando: Gets much more benething room, with Hill off the roster and a TE in his place, cheap backcourt improvement, a decent center, and future pick, rebuild is starting and this is a great way to start... the TE with Juwan can be packaged to a good veterian at one of the 4 spots.

Houston: Keeps Stevebadding T-mac, who has someone to actually turn his passes into assists, and hopefully a usable Hill. Bribe the Bobcats to draft and waive spoon to get a 6mill signing exemption, sign Brent for MLE, now you have T-mac and Stevie starting, as if thats not exciting enough, you have JJ and Brent to come off the bench. Hopefully Yao get better and stay better into April and into the playoffs. The 2nd rd pick can help or be packaged with MO or Gooden for front line help. Maybe someone in the NBA would enjoy a deal for Gooden, 6 mill TE, and a low 2nd RD pick for their forward like Detriot or Clippers..

As I've said b4 almost all trade by fans are unrealistic... but I had to throw in my .02..

If those are truly the only options (I think the Knicks will make a run), I say we've got the best chance.

Let's analyze the teams one by one:

    1) Phoenix

Best option out there. Marion and their pick is as goodas Francis alone. Marion is not as godo as Francis, I think Marion is an extremely good complimentary player, while Francis is a barely decent "carry the team" player. A core of Amare/T-Mac/JJ and cap space to sign... sayyyyyyyyyyyy, Okur? That's a tremendous team.

    2) Rockets

Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley and Kelvin Cato for T-Mac and Hill.

That's a superb deal for Orlando, IMO. Really gives them a SOLID starting 5, they can add their pick, as well as the MLE, and they are in contention for homecourt. However, I'm worried that are team takes a huge hit with this deal.

I would definitely suggest they throw in Tyronne Lue in exchange for a tiny portion of the Trade exception. I would also need a guarantee that we use our full MLE to strengthen the squad.

Both teams improve more than they would if they stay put, there's no denying that. That is the purpose of every trade in the NBA.

    3) San Antonio

I don't understand why they'd do this. They would have to gut their team to get him, when they clearly don't need to gut their team to win a championship. They are one energy player away (Keon Clark?) from the championship. The deal that would be accepteable to Orlando would be Parker, Ginobili and one more player. Turkoglu is too much for San Antonio to giv up, and anyone else is too little. Parker, Ginobili and nesterovic don't make enoug hanyway, I don't think so. Even so, I don't think itould be enough. They're much better off going with Phoenix. Obviously, T-Mac would win more here than probably anywhere else.

    4) Lakers

Unrealistic. Kobe owuld never go to Orlando, no way. So the only this works is a 3-way where Kobe goes where he wants, T-Mac goes to LA, and the team that Kobe goes to has a better package than the other 4 teams. So basically, this one is up to Kobe and what he decides. I personally don't think Kobe will leave. Personally, only 2 teams can make this deal happen, the Grizzlies and the Suns. Kobe wants to play for the Grizzlies. However, the Suns would be too weakened if they acquired Kobe, to the point where I don't think Kobe could win and he knows it.

Let's hope Jerry West doesn't make this happen, and in one swoop put both his favorite franchises (Lakers and Grizz) at the top of the NBA.

Hmmm, ah.... nah, I better not. Hopefully someone else'll get that one for me.

But, can't help but simply add

T-mac and Steve starting backcourt=bad    :(
Yao as a third option=bad
    Boki being ignored=bad :(

Hey, best I could to keep my mouth shut.

there is an article on realgm today that says that nash and okur said they are interested in the suns.

a trade for t-mac plus those FA's would be scary.

in an old thread here, the one when we went through the league's offers for tracy, phoenix's offer was jj their lotto pick and 2 future #1's. if thats all they give up they have a chance at:

    amare
    okur
    marion
    tmac
    nash

IMHO, PHX can put the best deal on the table. And they will also have cap space to augment their team. Some obvious variables in all scenarios....

    * Where (if anywhere) does McGrady want to play?
    * How much does ORL value Marion?
    * Who is on the draft board when PHX picks? Next years' PHX 1st rounder won't be nearly as attractive.
    * How badly do the Magic want to unload Hill?

The Suns have already let it be known that they won't make such a trade. The trade, as proposed, was floated out there by a sportswriter; the Colangelos sunk it.

Basically, the Suns said they might send Shawn Marion (and, I would presume, one of their second-rate first-round picks that they've collected this year) but won't part with Joe Johnson in any deal. Which is smart.

Of course, these things can change when reality sets in. TRACY McGRADY?! Teams will pony up. I suspect Steve Francis and Kelvin Cato and a future first rounder might get us McGrady and Howard (salaries matching).

I mention Steve because he's an All Star, and Cato because he's a legit center, and he'd be one of about three such players in the East.

San Antonio? Would have to include Parker and somebody else but they don't have the star power to get it done. Lakers? Kobe's court date starts too late in the summer for the Lakers to even get involved in a trade.

If McGrady opts out of his contract, doesn't that make him a free agent?

Yep. So he's threatening the Magic by saying, I'll leave if you don't trade me. And he's naming teams where he'd play, and presumably re-sign. Houston being one of them. YAY! (girlish high-pitched squeal)

Hmm, Parker/Ginobili >> SF. Cato's contract make his value next to nothing and I think the Spurs would pony up Manu(@$7 million)/Parker(1.5)/Rasho(6.1)/Horry(5.4)/#28/#53 for T Mac(14.5)/Howard(5.4)/#37

They could then pick up Brent Barry for the MLE and roll with this :

    PG Brent Barry/Chris Duhon
    SG T Mac/Devin Brown
    SF Bruce Bowen/Hedo
    PF Juwan Howard/Rose
    C Tim Duncan/ Scola

Could there not be a T-Mac sticky? How many of these threads need to be started?

San Antonio may not have the star power of Francis/Marion, but I do think they have the type of players Orlando is looking for. The Magic are probably going to move away from a guard oriented team. They tried building around a guard (Mcgrady) and it really hasn’t worked out.

Since they’ll likely be building around Okafor or Dwight Howard, they probably want players that excel when playing in a big man-oriented team. Parker/ Ginobili obviously have experience playing with a great big man. Plus, they’re cheap and they’re both around the same age as Okafor/Howard.

Why does not he want to go to Wolves and play with KG?

There is no chance that TMac goes to Lakers/Spurs.

Rockets have a great, if not best chance to get him if that's really what he wants to do.

The Magic wouldn't make that trade. No way in hell.

T-Mac alone is worth what SA is offering in that trade. They throw in Howard? No way.

Scola is nothing close to a C. He's barely 6'8, not a season in the NBA. Brent Barry may or may not go to San Antonio. Oh, and I believe Turkoglu is an FA?

Houston has the upper hand if they offer to take back Hill.

Cato's value is nothing? Please. Take a look at the Lakers/Rockets series, then come back and chime in.

One thing to remember is you gotta sell tickets, and I am not sure that Parker/Ginobili will do that. SF, despite his spotty play this year, was voted one of Houston's most popluar athletes (the most popular if I remember correctly). SF will put butts in the seats. I mean he has been voted to the all-star team by the fans for the last several years. Also, a buddy of mine with the team told me that there is considerable interest in SF throughout the league.

Additionally, Cato's contract only has 2 years left meaning that if he doesn't work out they can trade him the next season as an expiring contract.

As for the spurs, Rasho, Parker, and Ginobili is a nice package, but that leaves SA without a center. Duncan DOES NOT want to play the 5, and SA cannot have him guard Shaq.

No way does Minn want to have a payroll like that KG. KG makes more than the entire GNP of all of South America by himself. I can't see Minn adding another Max dollar contract like that.
