I get your points, but here are some others to consider. If you think Obama has no experience, than you know very little about Chicago politics and what it takes to make it there. Chicago is many times larger and more difficult to navigate than all of Alaska.

While you may only be counting the actual days of Obama on the Senate floor, you are forgetting his experience at putting together the most well run, organized, financed and history making campaign ever in US history. That is EXECUTIVE experience by itself if you know anything about what it takes to run a campaign, which he has been doing for almost two years now...SUCCESSFULLY! Many people severely underestimate what it took to beat a powerful force like the Clintons and what type of leadership abilities that required.

I think you need to re-research your comment about his legislation in the Senate. Try starting with nuclear arms controls.

Administration is a paperwork job. I can give you many more highly qualified "administrators". Also, maybe you can ask Mayor White what is the difference in being mayor of Houston or a 9,000 population city in Alaska. There is no comparison there and the problems definitely are NOT the same.

I am a non-Harvard type and don't get the hate for those who come from poor backgrounds but make it to Harvard or Princeton, etc. I get it for those who are spoon feed. But do you know anything about how Obama got there?

I expect Palin to do well in the debates, because even most commentators on tv are better speakers than most candidates and can answer some questions better. But it will take only one blip for her for her credibility to be shot to be next in line for the Presidency. I expect that this ONE item will occur, and McCain will further be exposed.

They are smoking republican grass....of course they own the stations that employ the commentators, so it's not too hard to believe how they are covering this.

Fox News thinks she has foreign policy experience since Alaska is close to Russia.

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. The American electorate may not feel the same.

Regardless of who wins, I look for Palin to be a rising star in the GOP, and at this point in time, it looks like I will be solidly in her camp.

I really respect your decision and opinion....I just hope the American electorate doesn't agree with you. :(

I might be called a chavinist for this, but I really think this woman should be spending more time with her five month old baby with down's syndrome. Doesn't that innocent child deserve to have the love of it's mother there more of the time with him at such a young age?

I am not against women working and having a family, but the requirements of travelling and campaigning to be vice-president of the US, and then possibly winning, is just too much for an infant of that age. At least let the child reach nursery school age. How many plane flights will they put that poor infant on? :( How many days will that poor infant go without seeing his mother? :( Nothing is like the love and comforting arms of a mother whom you just spent months attached to and growing from before birth, at the age of this infant. I think that is cruel and unusual punishment for that infant. :(

But I guess her political ambitions should come first. It's one thing to work as the governor of Alaska and be able to be home everyday, and completely different to compaign for vice-president or possibly be vice president of the United States of America.

Are their any mothers who see this point of view?

Maybe not. What it does show is that she makes a decision based on what she believes is the correct course of action. To many times in Washington, decisions are made based on spin and popularity rather than what the official actually believes what is best for the country.

Say what you will about Palin, but it appears that she is of strong character in that regard.

So because she has a down's syndrome baby that somehow should DQ her from being VP????

I should also point out that you do not know what arrangements she has made. You do not know how the child has bonded with his father. Perhaps the father has been the primary caregiver and will continue to do so.

Maybe you should know all of the facts before opining on her personal life and decisions made within her family.

You are in serious need of watching the movie "Mr. Mom." Sarah has a husband who runs the household, and he doesn't at all look or sound like a wimpy sort. How is this different from Michelle staying home with young children while Obama works?

I understand your point fully and 100%. That is EXACTLY what my problem is with her as well. That reminds me of BUSH AND THE LAST EIGHT YEARS! He believed that God wanted him to do all the stupid crap he has done. His "strong character" is what he was known for, and not listening to advisers that are wise. She doesn't have the wisdom to run the most powerful country of the world at this point. But that's just my opinion; although I do believe that the rest of the US, or enough of them, will see the striking similarity in train of thought for McCain/Palin as compared to the Bush/Cheney thinking. Strong characters that make bad decisions and listen to know one that disagrees with them because they are "mavericks".

I understand Mr. Mom. Maybe you believe that men will also one day be able to breast feed their children as well  hell, maybe with technology we can even give birth one day too.

I don't know if her husband is a "house husband" or not, but I do know that this infant is only 5 months old and there are some things that no matter how much he tries, the father can't give him that the mother can. That is the difference between the Palins and Obamas; moms verses dads. Call me old fashioned if you like, but I won't see the roles the same for moms and dad until men can give birth and breast feed. I also thought that the republican party was about religion and family values. I just have a feeling that when a lot of older religious republican women take a look at this, they will not agree with her doing this with a 5 month old with down's syndrome. I would think that more liberal women would go for that. If the child was like 4 or 5, I would not be saying this though.

For someone who is still deciding between the two candidates, as I typically don't vote along party lines, but do the research and pick the one I think is best and have gone back and forth with these two. However, I will say I love the pick of Palin and do not buy the debate going back and forth on experience. For one, it is not as important when talking about VP as it is president, and for another, I think both Obama and Palin both have a lot they can bring to the table for their respected parties and positions.

So, even though I understand the mudslinging going back and forth, homer robotic politics as usual, I think McCain made a great pick and look forward to the debates and rest of the campaigns, because I really think America has great candidates this year and in the end will be historical, either way.

I know I would get flack for this comment because of the status of the issue in society at large. But I stand by what I said regardless of what plans they have. The problem is still HER relationship with the child. Her travel schedule will be ridiculously hectic and the infant is only 5 months old. Doesn't that child have rights over it's mother? Those are the only facts that I need to know in this situation. Again, if the child was older, I would not be saying this. But good grief, we are talking about a 5 month old infant with special needs! :(

Why do people criticize Palin's experience as governor of a small state so much? Okay, so she governs a smaller population than San Antonio, for instance. It's not like a governor or mayor has to "govern" every single person in the state or city! Below the governor or mayor are all those department heads and below them are all those sub department heads and so on. You get the idea.

By using the chain of command, it doesn't matter how many people live in Alaska, Palin only needs to talk to the heads of departments and read their reports. If we are comparing population, then are we also saying the president of China must be better than ours because he governs 1.3 billion people? Just like if you're working for some company, do you report directly to the CEO or do you report to your supervisor?

Their son will be seven months old by inauguration time. I can't think of anything more heart-warming than the Vice President of the United States breast feeding a child while wielding the gavel on the Senate floor. The PR would be ... breathtaking. Scatter a few toys on the floor and the Senate might be brought down to earth ... and women will flock en masse to the Republican Party.

If I applied for a job to run Microsoft, would you want me to have run the corner mom-and-pop PC repair shop? "Look, we can make a mousepad with a picture of your kids on it!" Yes, I think size matters, a lot. The complexity that comes with numbers would be hard to overstate.

Again, none of these people have meaningful government executive experience, including McCain and Obama, in my opinion.

When you learn about the difference between big city governement and little city government, you will know the difference. No one is saying that Palin has NO experience, but since McCain made the experience and issue about Obama and said that he would pick a candidate ready to govern this country from day one, it is more about McCAIN'S JUDGEMENT, than it is about Palin's experience. Being governor of any state brings some experience with it, but you really want a hockey mom a few years removed to be running your country in these times?

Say what you will about Obama's experience, he has proved he can govern more than most politicians PERIOD; just by leading the largest and most successful NATIONAL compaign for the last two years that took out the most powerful democratic force in the last 40 plus years. If you can't see executive experience and leadership in that, you just don't understand what it takes to accomplish that historic feat.

Just a rhetorical question: Is there really a bid difference from being governor of Alaska as their is from being governor of Arkansas?
