lol so you and Dubious seem to be in agreement. Vote against Obama = you're a racist.

Nevermind the pummelling Obama received at the Saddleback event.

I'm starting to agree. I thought America was ready for a campaign of issues and ideas, but now I'm not so sure.

Keep in mind, Obama's goal is to be ahead in November, not today. He went through this same thing in the fall of 2007. He was consistently 15-20 points behind Hillary and making up no ground. If he lost Iowa, he was done. People kept saying he needed to go on the attack, etc, etc. He didn't do it - because his strategy was focused on long-term results. Not saying it will work again, but there's precedent here for what he's doing. Focusing on the day to day stuff is where people can go wrong.

Maybe some people just don't agree with Obama on the issues and his ideas?

Sounds crazy, I know. I'm just throwin' it out there...

Obama already has gone negative, libs. It just hasn't worked. Voters know McCain and they know Obama is misrepresenting him through his negativity.

Of course, Obama also made the strategic error of announcing he wouldn't go negative. He's allegedly 'the new kind of politics' and 'above' the negative ads. Of course, he has had plenty of negativity in his ads, so he's already gone back on his word, kinda like how he did on FISA, campaign financing, the Surge, offshore drilling, etc etc... what a fraud this guy is.

Not applicable because this is the reverse of that situation. He had a big lead in the General and then squandered it by a series of clumsy, rookie errors.

Too bad Mccain only seems to be focusing on Obama not his ideas.

Call me when McCain focuses on the issues and stops comparing Obama to Britney Spears.

This was reported by bigtexx because he doesn't think it is acceptable to call anyone a racist.

I don't read enough posts in here to know for sure one way or the other if bigtexx is a racist, but I seriously doubt it.

Not sure this is worthy of a reported post to the moderator necessarily, but there you go.

I think Obama will be fine, but I do think some minor strategy alterations are needed here. The difference here vs. the primary campaign is that Obama didn't have to worry about states beyond Iowa. The goal was to convince Iowa and then seize the momentum from there going forward. With Iowa being what it is, he was able have much more of a personal focus on individual voters and discuss the issues. On a national level, obviously that kind of personal focus is next to impossible -- and where McCain's tactics sadly become more pervasive.

It makes one wonder if John Edwards wasn't in the race before Iowa if Hillary would've carried the momentum instead of Obama. Edwards knew his affair was going to come out, yet he continued onto the primary anyways therefore splitting votes from Clinton. I'm not so certain Obama would've had such momentum if he was facing Clinton without Edwards. We would be possibly talking about Hillary vs. McCain right now.
