I'm really afraid that when the white middle class of this country close the drapes on the voting booth that they are going to return to their true bigoted, ill-informed, xenophobic, scared, selfish selves. They don't show that face at cocktail parties, but it's the real them.
Time to close up shop Obama. Nevermind the next two-plus months and the conventions and the debates and the selection of your running mate, Sen. McCain has pulled ahead of you in polling on August 20. It was a good run though.
I'm not surprised by the polls. The key of this election is if Obama can get the young voters out like he did during the primaries.
I would like to hope so, but I'm not so sure. Not that this board is necessary representative of the voters that would vote for McCain, but based on somet things I've read, there will be a lot of people voting against Obama because of what he looks like.
There are plenty of reasons to vote for McCain that don't include 'what Barack Obama looks like'. That's such a pompous insult to McCain voters.
Race, anachronistic religion, tribalism (white protestants , yo!), comfort with the status quo, susceptible to fear mongering That's IS the silent majority.
LOL, anyone white and middle class that doesn't vote for Obama is "bigoted, ill-informed, xenophobic, scared, and selfish." What a refreshingly open-minded view.
This is what you get when people don't know how to read charts. Here's the actual number: Obama 228, McCain 178, Toss Ups 132 The McCain 274 number comes when you take polls that are within the margin of error and assign them to a particular candidate. The problem with that is that... well, the polls are within the margin of error which tells you nothing. In some cases, you have 2-3% pt leads which at least is reasonable since these are polls-of-polls. However, they've also assigned Colorado, Virginia, and Ohio to McCain - with leads of 0.5, 0.6, and 1%. Better yet, they've assigned Nevada to McCain and New Mexico to Obama with no poll data at all. Brilliant!
Wrong. The silent majority is for low taxes, a strong military, support for the military, a strong economy, a strong foreign policy, values consistent with the Church and the family, and healthcare that isn't run by government bureaucrats.
mccain ahead in one poll in aug...let's see how the rest of the polls look first. This is going to be a tight race. There is no way a minority of any color is just going to cake walk in the white house.
I think Obama needs to start doing the same because it obviously works. This country can't afford an extension of the disastrous policies of the last eight years.
yeah...ads that attack will always work And he's always been ahead in my book. He's white...A minority will never be president anytime soon. I just dont believe in America
Don't bring your logic and evidence in here! Stuff like that has no business on the Straight Talk Express!
