Damn, neither site is letting anyone register right now. I guess they are afraid of new members talking a little trash during the playoffs. Too bad... I had a nice picture to show them. Something about Saving a horse; Ride a Mav.
not to tell you you're wrong, but it's happened twice. us in 95, and the lakers back in the day. either way, they may take one in tc, but we still own home court advantage now, and this series should be over by this time next week. (hopefully saturday though)
All the Mavs fans that call in to 610 have come to one conclusion about the Houston Rockets: That the Houston Rockets have peaked out, they are playing the best basketball they can play, while the Mavs are nowhere close to playing up to their potential, and yet the Rockets are barely coming out on top. That is their little pearl of hope hanging around their necks. But the fact is the stats sheets have actually favored the Mavs. The Rockets have been outrebounded, outshot behind the arc, and beat at the foul line. Dallas had 23 points off second chance opportunites last night which mainly came from the Rockets not grabbing defensive rebounds and they still say that was as perfect a game as the Rockets can play. We had a starter who shot 1-10 and the Rockets still played a perfect game? They keep saying Dirk will explode and when he does for the Rockets its going to be all she wrote. but the fact is Mcgrady is due for his weekly eruption in a game where he scores plus 40 so that goes both ways. the better team is just winning the series which none of them are ready to face up to. it's going to take a strong victory tonight to get them guys over there to understand just how good of a team these Houston Rockets are. the Rockets need to really punish this team tonight.
But the Mavs' fans did agree that their showing up for the game was a BAD LUCK sign, so many of them said they would watch from home now.
lol. otoh, what do you expect them to say. just fold. some of them probably already did and left that board for now. and in the mean time there are always die-hard fans showing up no matter what their record is.
1. doesn't hurt or help us. when they were double teaming him he found the open man, if they stop (more like game 1) then he will score himself. -actually in game 2 when they would leave bowen to double tmac it did hurt us for the minutes that bowen was out there, so i guess not double teaming tmac helps us a little. 2. dirk was supposed to come out swinging after his terrible game 1. he didn't do it last game, i don't think he will be any more motivated this game. not making him create his own shot is a good idea for them but it could also keep him from the ball at times. 3. they might take yao out of his rythm by being more physical, but double teaming him will leave shooters open. 4. who cares? if i were them i would: 1. full court press and double tmac at half court the whole game. 2. keep dampier on yao, 1-on-1, and let him be very physical with him early. I wouldn't even care about foul trouble because once yao has a bad first qtr or first half he usually doesn't step up after that. 3. play dirk at center for most of the game. that will help him score and also give yao a bad matchup on D (KVH, howard, etc) funny that they will do the opposite of those 3 things. oh well...GO ROX!!!
The general attitude on the radio shows is that Dallas has been losing games of their own volition, not because we are better than them. I guess we just got lucky twice. I'd sure hate to have it happen a third time!
Thanks I knew there was a rule... Sorry, I couldn't believe the superiority attitude... How many titles have they won? Won't bring it up again.
Mavs suck...over-rated, over-hyped ...Me thinks they will win one, maybe two from the rox, but won't win the series...They have to show up...Tonight's game is a must win, but you know, so was Game 2... Go Rox!!!
Thats the prevailing attitude in Dallas about ANYTHING related to the city of Houston. Up here they hate anything & everything to do with H-town & take every oppurtunity to Bash it. I've been living here for 7yrs & its funny how when you meet someone else from Houston who lives here..there's an immediate bond. We have to stick together. Funny how they talk so much S**t about Houston (in person, radio, tv, newspapers), but when I was growing up there, NOBODY ever really mentioned Dallas. It's like a huge One-way rivalry. Haven't figured out why yet.
Oh so true... I graduated from The University of North Texas in 2002...many of my best friends still live in Dallas and I am soon to be engaged to a Ft. Worth Gal I met in College--she has a shirt that says "Life is too short to live in Dallas"..hehehe. Consequently, yours truly will be moving up to Ft. Worth or H-E-B this summer. We need to get together DFW! Anyhoo, I think it's a general inferiority complex...We have the port, all the major industry and oil wealth, and our general up-swing over the last decade and 1/2 have made them lash-out to make themselves feel better I guess. More theatre seats than NY/NY, better restaurants and multicultural diversity--Hell, we do better at 2 sports that nuvo-riche Planoites enjoy the most: Golf and Tennis! Houston is one of the best Tennis destinations in the world thanks to "Mattress Mack"(A UNT Alumnus ) and we have the Shell Open. Houston has ALWAYS been more influential and important on the Texas and World stage than they have--except for the Cowboys and "Dallas"...hehehe
I hate the Mavs just as much as everyone else, but if the roles were reversed, I'd be saying some of the same types of things. We're down, but not out. Our talented stars are due for a big game and need to step up. This team is too good to get swept. We need to play hard playoff basketball like our backs are against the wall. What do you expect them to say? We suck, it's over?
exactly nothing has been won yet. the rockets have only won 2 games out of a needed 4 games in this series. and seriously in the end it doesnt really matter if we beat dallas if we dont make it to the finals. 2-3 years from now no one will be saying "oh yeah houston did well because they advanced one round" hell i cant even really remember many of the playoff matchups of the past 5-6 years except for conference finals and finals. but this is coming from a die-hard rocket fan living in la so i dont know if there is stuff between dallas and houston in other regards, but still show some more class if you wish to rub it in wait till after the series is over. cuz believe me if somehow dallas comes back to win the series you guys will gonna get the worst of it
Agreed! I haven't said a word about the series at work yet...but if we do sweep, I'll buy a broom, write "property of the Houston Rockets on it" and leave it on my bosses desk. He talks so much crap about Houston its almost unbearable.
Just remember.... When everyone was saying that the Mavs would beet the Rockets in 6 games or in 7 games, they were conceding that houston would win at least two games. Granted, they probably didn't think those two games would be the first two played and with such skill and dominant performances. I know that saying this series isn't over until someone has one 4 games is simple and states the obvious, but I think we as rocket fans are putting to much emphasis on having "proved" that we are the better team after two games. It is easier to lose 4 games out of the remaining five games because of over confidence than it is to win two more games in the playoffs. Make no mistake about it, the very real threat of being knocked out of the playoffs should be ever present in both the rockets minds and the rocket's fans minds. We should cheer for the rockets at the Toyota Center like crazy from the beginning of the game until the end as if we were playing the old Nintendo NES Track and Field video game and making our guy run and jump faster by tapping the "A" button as fast as we can!!! If we go crazy, we can very literally fuel the Rockets with adrenaline! Let's do our part. Keep the dream alive! Every second on the court, the Mavericks are going to trying to break the heart of the rockets with their scoring. WE WONT LET THEM! Not to our Rockets! Not in our house in the playoffs! Not this year! The time is Yao! Done come too far... Done sacrificed too much! As a person that almost lost my life this year, I appreciate the importance of the "here and now" opportunities. Insert the "There IS no tomorrow! - There IS no tomorrow! - There IS no tomorrow!" echo from Apollo Creed on Rocky III here! Let's carry this team! This year, it's personal - SS
