I for one, have a lot of trouble blaming anyone for being dissatisfied while playing for the CLIPPERS. I don't think this guy's anything like Rider... he just got sick of losing and Sterling's BS.

I agree with DaDakota this time. He's a good scoring PF with good athletic ability... if the Rockets could get him cheap, go for it.

BTW, Is 6.5 rebounds really that awful? If he managed to pull down 8, that wouldn't be bad... and I don't think that's impossible.

I like this guy in the pinstripes. I think he's learning a very harsh lesson right now, and Rudy's a motivating machine. Plus this guy gives us an inside scoring presence that we desperately need. Defense and rebounding are both relative to your hustle and if Rudy can get this guy motivated, and I think he can, this guy is a potential all-star.

Ummm... yes 6.5 is BAD!! Especially considering he played 36 minutes a game. And don't say he was playing to preserve himself this year because it was the same story every year he's been in the league, he's never rebounded well and never rebounded well at college. What is to make you think that he could suddenly snare 8 boards a game??
Sure he might be more motivated to play well, but the fact of the matter is that he's had a whole lifetime of playing basketball and he has proved he can't rebound.
Why not wave the magic wand over Kenny Thomas and get him to increase his scoring from 8 a game to 13 a game - then we can use the exception to sign someone else.....

    DrN,

i agree 6.5 boards in 36 minutes is hopeless, that's just over 1 board every 6mins, but surely for the 2million exemption he would be good value, for offense alone.

not to worry, apparently the Magic are hot on him, now that Hill is arriving via the sign and trade route.

My point is that if Taylor grabbed 2 rebounds more per 36 minutes, then suddenly he's not such a bad rebounder. I don't think this is impossible given his athletic ability... I do think he needs some coaching.

Despite Mo's defense and rebounding, I think he would be a huge asset to the Rockets scoring. We have absolutley no post up threat up front and that's important come playoff time. Can you imagine a front court of an improved Cato (the one we saw in the pre-season) and a scoring machine Mo Taylor. Plus, Mo has a little range whitch he and Francis can run a lethal screen play.

Learning to rebound is easier than learning to score. Scoring requires touch and quickness, rebounding is mostly about positioning. With Big Mo's size and reach it shouldn't be that hard.

Rebounding is mostly about fire in the belly and the belief that every rebound belongs to you. Positioning is next.

There is no way MO Taylor is looking to come to houston! He wouldn't be someone i would take a chance with either. He has proved that he can ball when he wants to, but he is not the type of competitor that will ever bring it every night.

Of the PF's that played over 40 games last year and averaged over 30 mins per game, only larry johnson, juwan howard, and cliff robinson had worst per-minute rebounding stats. Larry is a 3 point shooter now, in case you hadn't heard, and Juwan Howard is what you call a waste of money or better put, "not gettin' your money's worth".

The fact is, there were about 9 small forwards that averaged more rebounds per game than Mo did. If you have a possible plus in a point guard that rebounds like crazy, why neutralize it by having a PF that doesn't?

My Vote : anybody that criticizes his teammates like he does shouldn't be a Rocket. Remember Pippen criticizing Barkley? If you despised the way he handled that, then how can you support the signing of Maurice Taylor?

    1) We need more rebounds than he can give from the PF spot....it's remotely possible that he can, but we can't take a chance...

    2) We don't want to get six more players in a trade the next year after he critisizes Hakeem or Kenny or Walt.....

Bottom line is, Orlando want him, we have the 4.5 million exception, they have Bo Outlaw.....It fits, to a T....Rudy T that is....

Just something to think about as well. How many rebounds are there to get in Clipper land? I'm guessing that defense is so porous that most teams hit a higher percentage of their shots, leaving less rebounds on the defensive end. Anybody know the stats?

thinking of this year, what other scenarios do we have if we don't sign this kid? it looks like (offensively) that he might be the best thing for us at 2.5 mil (assuming we can light a fire under his a** on the defense side).

plus, if we sign him, other teams can't [IMG]

    Thanks Nike !!!

We certainly could not hurt ourselves by taking a player that has something to PROVE to the league.

I see 3 problems with signing Mo Taylor

    1. Rebounding which everyone has already mentioned.

    2. Attitude. This is the guy who was cussing out fans in LA when he was shooting like 4-17 against the Rockets. Chemistry is very important and this guy could rock the boat.

    3. Money. This guy wants to max out. If he signs for the $2.5 mil are the Rockets going to offer him the max that he's looking for the next year? That would be a disaster IMHO.

There is nothing that says we have to sign him again next year. If it doesn't work out, then we just renounce his rights, or sign and trade him somewhere else.
