I heard that his agent is saying that Mo is getting a huge shock, and has gone from being a Max player to more then likely having to sign for a teams mid level exception.

Would we have any interest in this guy? I would think he is an upgrade for us.

    So would Isiah Rider.

Depends if he is serious about basketball, which it seems he isn't.

Maybe he should have grown up last year and actually played ball instead of whining about having to play for the Clippers, and thinking that poor play will get him a maximum contract this year.

If he was willing to come here for the mid-level exception (2.5 mill) then sure he would be an upgrade and might just play his arse in an attempt to get some respect back and also larger contract.

Offensively he would be a good fit, defensively he is not great (again he would be a perfect fit) but most importantly he would have to come here and start rebounding if he was to be any good to us and who really knows if he can??????

I can't help it, but that's a real feel-good story to me. He sure was abnoxious last year.

Speaking of feel good stories, this is just amazing and very refreshing in the world of money grapping professional sports.

Kurt Warner's decision to pass up millions and start camp by signing a one-year, $358,000 deal drew the admiration of his agent, Mark Bartelstein.

"This guy is unbelievable," Bartelstein said. "He was the most valuable player in the Super Bowl and he felt strongly that he owed it to coach Mike Martz to be in camp on time. I don't think something like this has happened in this sport."

The Rams and Bartelstein will continue working on a contract extension, but they have been unable to find an acceptable deal during the past five months of intense talk.

Maurice Tayler is a power forward that can't rebound (6.5/1.5) It has been said for several months that he wasn't going to get what he wanted and IMHO, I think we have enough "soft" interior players as it is.

He still is an improvement over what we have and he is always tradeable at a mid level salary.

I would love to have this guy, I think Rudy and Steve have an infectious personality, and can get players to play up to their potential.

I don't think Rider would be a good fit, he is a cancer. This is the same reason I would never like Payton on the Rockets, he destoys chemistry.

Chemistry is SOOOO important, you can win with role players if they all play within their role.

I wouldn't exactly say that he can't rebound. I think that he just didn't want to. I think that either he or someone else convinced him that he could get hurt by hustling for rebounds and playing defense and you certainly don't want that in your walk year from the clippers. I think he played not to get hurt and as a result killed his stock on the open market. I still think he has the game but needs the motivation. Playing hard for the Clippers isn't exactly something I want to risk nine million dollars a year for, although we now know it was a bad choice to tank the season.

You know I would think playing with Houston (young, up-and-coming team, relatively open power forward spot) would be a good opportunity for him, but there has been nothing indicating either party is interested, my bet says it's not going to happen. Maybe it's cuz he doesn't have enough range on his jumper.

    DaDakota -- good call!

Maurice Taylor fits into the Rockets 'no vcr rules'. He scored 31 against the Rockets 12/30 of last year.

His per-minute rebound stats were roughly equal to what they have been all three years in the league. Not only that, but he was way below average all three years of college as well. It's a shame, too, because he would fit tremendously in the Rockets offensive scheme.

Big Mo isn't a great rebounder because he never tries. Maybe its because he plays for the Clips or maybe he just doesn't care. Whatever the reason if he's going to come cheap why not take a chance? He has enormous untapped talent. All he needs is the desire to win and maybe Rudy and the Rockets can do just that. Although I must admit Big Mo was an underacheiver at Michigan too. But Fisher and Ellerbe aren't exactly top notch motivators/coaches.

    Crisco,

I think Mo is a brooder, and IMHO that is completely different then a cancer.

Remember people were saying the same things about Rodney Rogers too, and once he got somewhere he liked, he took off.

I think Mo could do that too. Plus he has something to prove to the league now.

Well, I think that if Houston did decide to take a chance on him, he should get the T-Ham treatment.

One mistake, and that's it. Off the team.

I don't want the Rockets to have to baby sit a potential trouble maker.

I think Taylor has enough potential that he's worth a good look at if he were to come that cheap. I'm not advocating a signing, just an interview so the Rockets can see where his head is at. If he was really ready to play for a legitimate team and work hard to make himself a better player, then I think he's certainly worth the exception.

I would definitely take Mo Taylor for the mid level exception. I don't think he would have the same cancerous effect that Rider would, and he would be forced to play his ass off to earn a bigger contract. The only downside is that having him for only a year could hinder the development of other players but for mine, that's not a big deal.

I think Mo has big-time cancer potential. Towards the end of the year, he was giving quotes to the LA Times bashing Kandi by name. He really seemed to have the attitude that the Clippers' woes were everyone's fault BUT his. I know that playing for a team like the Clips can give anyone a surly disposition, but calling out your teammates by name is inexcusable and something I don't Rudy would tolerate.

    My opinion: pass on Taylor.

I would sign Taylor if he came cheap...

But I hear that Orlando's trying to get him also. Imagine that- Hill, Mcgrady, Taylor. Really, all Mo Taylor needs is to get motivated. I think that he can become a decent rebounder/defender if he puts his mind to it. I think that DOC RIVERS would be the absolute perfect coach for him, and if he goes to Orlando, he'll be playin very well for them.
