Anyone notice he has no association with any Houston sports team anymore?

    What happened?

I mean he used to buy out Oiler tickets to make sure the games were on TV, Rockets used to play at his training center at West Side...

Now all he does is support VY and the tennis club.

Wierd. He was always giddy about supporting the home teams.

It seems he and the Rockets split when they quit using his place to workout once they got their new arena.

Yeah, If you were a professional sports team, would you rather have a guy that used to wear mattresses and sell drugs be your official furniture spokesperson, or a guy that wields a chainsaw in his commercials?

Besides him buying out the Oilers seats that one time on MNF before they moved (all about the PR), and him travelling with the Rockets on their title runs... his invovlement is about the same it has always been.

In fact, more of his $$$ is devoted to Houston sports now than it ever was... in the forms of promotions, sponsorships, and advertising space. (He paid for the replica NL championship rings that were given out twice this year).

His lack of public exposure at sporting events could also be due to the fact that two of Houston's 3 teams have done NOTHING of significance since 1997.

Lets face it, sponsoring sports events is a dead end marketing strategy. In Houston, everybody already knows his company. It was getting to the point where overexposure of his business turned customers off. He's been losing money in all his sports ventures from the bowl games to the tennis tournaments. He's good at one thing, and thats selling furniture. Its a wise business decision to pull out of the sports marketing and focus on what he already does best.

He realized that no matter how big and cheesy it is, a furniture salesman's full page sports ad in the chronicle has zero effect on an NFL GM's draft plans.

It's time for him to move back to Dallas anyway.

And take his piece of **** store with him.

I think he'd make the perfect Cowboy fan......and maybe a butt buddy for Cuban as well................they usually go hand in hand anyway.
