from http://www.nbadraft.net/profiles/vladimirradmanovic.htm#stats Vlad makes 32 FGs. Vlad makes 18 FTs. Vlad scores 118 pts If free throws are worth on point and FGs can be worth 2 or 3 points, how many 3 point Fgs did he make? ------------------
Hmm, good point, Joe Joe... that is quite curious. Maybe they liked him so much in that league, they counted all his baskets as 3 and 4 pointers. ------------------ Feeling claustrophobic, like the walls are closing in. Blood stains on my hands, and I don't know where I've been. I'm in trouble for the things I haven't got to yet. I'm chomping at the bit, and my palms are getting wet. Vlad made : 32 FGs x 2 = 64 pts 18 FTs x 1 = 18 pts 82 + 3x = 118 3x = 118-82 = 36 x = 12 He made 12 3's. What do I get? ------------------ "I had mine chewed off by a boss one time." -- Behad leaves us wondering if he gets hazard pay...
Maybe I can help you with this european site. http://yu.telebasket.com/player_stats.asp?id_player=7418 There you find his complete stats from the yugoslavian league as well as from a minor european Cup.
Seems like I remember Boville saying something about how in Europe, they count regular field goals separate from 3 point attempts. ------------------ It's a ring toss game.
Dunk, something's wrong with that equation, I think. ------------------ humble, but hungry. [This message has been edited by PhiSlammaJamma (edited June 21, 2001).]
Ok, yeah, I think its 2x + 3x +18 = 118 Which means x must =20, which means it's impossible because that would be 40fg. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
If you visit the euro-site with his stats you see that the Number of FGs and FTs are from the Saporta Cup and like Dr of Math already calculated he made 12 3s.
You think wrong. ------------------ "I had mine chewed off by a boss one time." -- Behad leaves us wondering if he gets hazard pay...
The Doctor's conclusions are correct, but the data provided is still lacking. If every one of the 32 made FGs are three pointers, it still only adds up to 96 points (32 X 3 = 96). Add 18 FTs and you still only have 114 points. The data provided is simply wrong. It is not possible for 32 FGs plus 18 FTs to equal 118 points. However, what is correct is the statement that this data is incomplete. Reference to the YUGO records shows he hit 12 of 48 three point attempts (.250), in addition to 32 of 63 two point attempts. So he made 32 X 2 + 12 X 3 + 18 X 1 = 118 (64) + (36) + (18) = 118 ------------------ "We're having a pretty good time considering one day we're all going to die." PS. Great. He shoots worse than Shandon Anderson at .250 treys, .508 twos and .600 free throws. He's a decoy. Forget him. ------------------ "We're having a pretty good time considering one day we're all going to die." Steve Martin, 1976 [This message has been edited by PinetreeFM60 (edited June 21, 2001).]
So you really can't create a formula because we have two unknowns. x and y. Number of 2 point shots taken and number of 3 point shots taken. Unless somehow you can turn x into y, or y into x, but I'm not seeing that right now. So far I've got: 2y + 3x +18 = 118 So if you solve for y you get (100/3x)/2 = y = 16.66x thus plugging in you now get 2 (16.66x) + 3x + 18 =118 33x + 3x +18 =118 36x = x= 3.2????? ok, something went drastically wrong.....!!!!! ------------------ humble, but hungry. PhiSlamma, the Doctor's numbers are correct because the treys sunk really are 12, and they really are not part of the 32 FGs made. 2fg = 32 of 63 = .508 3fg = 12 of 48 = .250 1ft = 18 of 30 = .600 So, they add up to 118 points, but the chart originally provided was incomplete because it did not show the three point attempts, or made, but did show the points derived from those shots. Therefore, the calculations made by the Doctor are correct, but they do not fit into the FG numbers provided. ------------------ "We're having a pretty good time considering one day we're all going to die." I can't believe it's come to this. This off-season must really suck. PSJ... you only have one unknown -- the number of 3 ptrs. They separate 3 pointers from 2 pointers when calc'ing FG%. We know that he made 32 FG's so 32x2 = 64 points from FG's. We know that he made 18 FT's so 18x1 = 18 points from FT's We know that he scored a total of 118 points and that 64+18 came from FG's and FT's. Whatever's left must've come from 3 pointers. Well, 64+18 = 82. So 118-82 must mean that 36 points is what is left and they came from 3 pointers. Since a 3 pointer is worth 3 points each (duh!), he must've taken 12 of them to score 36 points from them. ------------------ "I had mine chewed off by a boss one time." -- Behad leaves us wondering if he gets hazard pay...
