I hate the guy but you know what, he is the type of guy we need on this team. Granted, he has no basketball talent but he is a great role player that knows his limits (unlike our 3 point shooting PF). I attended the game last night and noticed so many things that he did to help his team that does not show on the scoreboard. - lose balls - screens - defense - hustle - active movement He also had 9 pts, 4 rebs, 2 assist, 4 blks, 4/6 FG, 1/1 FT, 0 TOS Compare that to our "3 point sniper) Eddie G 4 pts, 2 rebs, 0 assist, 1 blk, 2-7 FG, 2 TOS
Didn't see you on TV, hikanoo49, BTW. Did Tiger give your seat away to the blonde? But seriously, Mark Madsen a good role player?? Last night was the highlight of his NBA career. Just how many drinks did you have after the game last night.......
Like I said, I hate the guy. But imagine if he was in a Rox uniform and claws and flops against Karl Malone.... Not too bad then right?
I wouldn't take Madsen over EG, but I agree he would be a nice role player for the Rox. Every team needs someone who can bring that type of intensity to a game. Although, I haven't seen him enough to know if he plays like that with every chance he gets an opportunity.
I would vomit if I ever saw Mark Madsen in a Rockets uniform. The guy is terrible. He had the game of his life last night. Do not let what happened last night be any indicator of his abilities.
i never had a problem w/ him, but after last nite i have a new least favorite player in the nba. i was so sick of seeing him yelling and pumping his fists. god, it was irritating. everytime he did anything, like get a rebound or "prevent" yao from hitting a basket he would get all excited and yell. act like youve been there before dude...oh wait, you havent. i would never want that chump on my team. someone like him belongs w/ the jazz. id like to beat up his grandma. leave it to the rockets could make a chump like him look good.
I live in LA and watch almost all the Laker games. When he gets PT, he always does things not that. Keep in mind, he doesnt shoot anything but layups, and no one can stop you from setting screens and getting lose balls etc. So from that standpoint, his output is generally the same. The good thing (in my opinion) about his game is that he knows what he is capable and incapable of. You will never see him try to shoot a 18 foot jumper and do a cross over etc. He is only good for screens, loose balls, hustle points, layups, defense etc. Too many of our guys think they are the next Rasheed Wallace or Michael Jordan. A true roll player could do wonders for us.
The only benifit to get him for the Rox is that he is darn good cheer leader. Other than that, why is he still get paid in the NBA. This guy shoots 33% free throw, yes free throw. I am really disgusted with this ugly runner right now.
Last night Madsen easily became my most hated non-Jazz player in the league. That flop was just disgusting. Then he thinks he made the game-saving block in OT, when really our damn guards should've taken a mid-range jumper instead of flying to the basket with nowhere to go.
Sad, but true. That was Madsen's career game. He plays hard, but wouldn't make the roster on most of the teams in the NBA.
That was a career game for Maddog. He normally plays like Taz, a completely out of control whirl wind and fouls out in 5 minutes. Last night he slowed it down a bit, played more in control. He is a nice guy, great hustle, no shot, under size, does rebound well for his size, lucky to be in the league.
He would instantly double the players on the Rockets with high basketball IQs...Yao is the only one right now. DD
well what do you know, a thread about getting somebody on the team we just played. will wonders never cease. well he should've taken the mid range jumper but don't say he had nowhere to go. he got to within 6 feet and had a fairly easy jumper. one problem. madsen hacked his wrist on the way up (did he get ANY ball on that block?) and the ball came up 2 feet short. mark madsen superstar, gettin' all the calls baby.
That flop was both disgusting and pure genius. But then again, (warning: Shameless, unnecessary dig) if some people could have kept a certain Laker swingman from penetrating and drawing fouls from Yao, things could have turned out differently.
Mad Dog is a very nice guy. I hated him for flopping last night against Yao, but I met the guy and was impressed by his energy, curiosity, intellect and generally cool manner. He did all the little things on the floor and knows his limitations. He never talked a big game when I was around him. He seemed to be interested in many things other than basketball. He just knows his role. I believe he was genuinely excited when he scored or drew a foul because he knows he's a role player. Any production from him on the Lakers helps. Again, I like the guy, but damn him for flopping!!!
