You mean you guys can find your way to Galveston. HaHa

    J/k

Seriously, I was listening to 610 last week and this UT alumn called Rich and Charlie and said he was on I10 on his way to Austin for the UT Oklahoma game. An A&M student emailed the show ragging on the guy saying he didn't know how to get to Austin because he wasn't driving down 290. Anybody heard that?, it was too funny.

Not that funny since it's faster for a lot of people to take I-10.

I've never gone to Austin on 290 unless I was making a stop in Bryan.

Unless you live north of I-10, it is faster to take I-10 West to Columbus, 71 West to Austin.

The only reason to take 290 rather than I-10/71 from Houston to Austin is that the BarBQ and country cookin' restaurants along the 290 route are better than the ones along the I-10/71 route. If you are in a hurry, take I-10/71.

Hold up partner, I was saying the joke was on the A&M guy, thinking that a UT student couldn't find his way to Austin, the guy looked like an idiot.

I remember that guy...He said something like that UT guy should know where he is by the time he gets to El Paso...My guess is that the e-mail was sent in by a Longhorn posing as an aggie, because nobody can be THAT stupid...

Otherwise, there is an aggie joke here somewhere, but I just can't think of it...

I always take 290. Its faster for me, since my parents live off of 290 in Houston.

Plus I hate taking 71. Too many cops lurking around. My radar detector goes nuts whenever I've been forced to take that route.

I've never understood that, unless you live on the southwest side or on I-10, there is no way it is faster than 290. It takes just a little over 2 hours driving 75-80 to get to Austin on 290.
