Hey guys, assuming the big deal goes through do you see any chance to get Marc Gasol too? As far as I know he is a restricted FA but will we have enough money to get him away from Memphis? I bet the two Spaniards would love to play together...
If you don't get Nene (and they still hope to get him), then it's certainly an interesting possibility. You can throw big money at him and, at a minimum, force the Grizzlies to pay big.
The offer would be matched, but the idea of using one brother to recruit the other is quite devious. Also, the Rockets don't have the contracts or resources for a S&T, not after losing Luis and K-Mart.
If the Griz match a max type deal for Gasol thy will be doomed. That's a team that will never pay the tax.
I'm sure Pau wouldn't be as pissed about playing here if we got his brother. And the Gasol/Randolph combo did do damage this postseason. It would make me feel better after getting bent over to get the elder Gasol. Centers are rare so giving one of them the max isn't a big deal, compared to a non-special PF like Nene.
I honestly think that Morey has this in the back of his mind. Personally i'd much rather have Marc Gasol than Nene.
Any chance that they don't want to play together? Its not like they havent done so before. They played together in every possible scenario for Spain. Maybe Marc doesnt want to follow Pau here?
its almost like saying "omgggg chase and jordan hill together!!!" bc of arizona type deal or "adelman and miller pairing up again in the sac days!!!" doubt it'll work...
With the Rockets being under the cap they wouldnt have to send contracts out to match those coming in ..... It would boil down to what Memphis would accept in return - players & picks. Its doable.
