Let me be a little more blunt. Marbury is a living freak show. It doesn't matter what his salary is. Pay him $1 million or pay him $20 million. The guy's opinion of himself won't change no matter what the salary or "expectations" are. Do you honestly believe this living freak show will be satisfied with coming off the bench an entire season? Do you really think he will suffer for 82 games being a subservient player on an NBA team? If so, you are smoking the same stuff Starbury was right before he gave a couple of those interviews. You can't teach an old worn-out dog new tricks. I suggest Googling some articles from the NYTimes and NYPost the last 2 years and seeing the kind of trash Marbury brings to a franchise. I'm sure most of it is still there. You apparently have no clue just how sorry he is and how he truly burnt the Knicks franchise. Embarrassing and disgraceful doesn't begin to describe it. You didn't answer my prior question so I'll ask you 2nd one: Name a more radioactive player in the NBA? After the Knicks buy him out, I hope the Lakers or Spurs sign him and he becomes an integral part of their team for a good part of the season. That will make the meltdown and resulting fallout much more devastating when it happens. jopatmc, I really like one thing about you based on your fascination with Starbury and Darius Miles: You must really believe in redemption and giving people 2nd & 3rd chances.
I'd love to see him go to the Lakers and watch that team implode. They'd practically beg to have Smush Parker back over that scrub.
When is the last time a troubled player went to a contending team that wouldn't rely on them as much and the team imploded? I always see this, but in all the cases I can remember the team taking the chance usually comes out ahead. Wasn't Rodman a headcase in SA? He did just fine in Chicago, right? What about Sheed? Was Starbury really worse than him? He went to the Pistons and has helped them get to what, two Finals, one title and 6 straight ECF's. Dennis Johnson was supposedely a problem in Seattle and Phoenix before the Celtics stole him. Wasn't Randy Moss and huge problem and quitter in Oakland? NE got him for nothing and were a miracle play away from perfection. You think Dallas is happy they took a chance on TO? I think if some contending team signs Steph to a cheap deal we will be watching them celebrate, and saying why couldn't we have done the same thing.......
good point. in the end, it still comes down to if one can ball. kobe and shaq never went along and the lakers still did the 3-peat. this locker room stuff is a bit overrated.
great point...if its on the cheap who cares....low risk high reward... if he mess up....cut him....simple
