Obviously, he's done in NY and at some point will be bought out. I personally think he may have smoked some bad weed or something, no jest. There's just something that doesn't connect right in his brain. I can't see any teams being willing to offer him much beyond the vet minimum. Would he be a good risk at the vet minimum where if he screwed up you just cut him? Just thinking about the possibility of catching lightning in a bottle. He's got huge talent. Could he fill a J.R. Smith type role for us, coming off the bench as the lead guard when McGrady and Rafer go out, give him the ball and let him throw up a whole bunch of points and not have to do much else, let him be the focal point of the 2nd unit? I would have a tendacy to say we should take the risk. Minimum contract, he could be easily dropped.

I wouldn't mind at the veteran minimum, however, I met this guy at West Oaks Mall and he is a cocky arrogant type of person that thinks the world revolves around him.

BTW: His shoes at Steve & Barry's are garbage.

why not give him a chance? if we can't find another back up for Alston, he would be a decent back up

Do you people really think Marbury is not only going to take a minimum offer, but sit back happily and be thankful to back up Rafer? He might be at the point in his career where he should consider a reduced role to play with a quality team (who hasn't wasted the bulk of its cap on his contract), but I think we all know that even if Stephon wanted to play in Houston, his warped ego would step in and raise hell.

With Marbury comes his possee of complete idiots with him who worship him and honestly do look like they all smoke crack if you watch him in that youtube video promting his shoes. If Fracis would beat his ass on a daily basis then i'd bring him over here.

    Speaking of which....

He's basically a more capable version of Rafer Alston, good handles, better than average passer, and better shooter with few more playmaking skills...only problem is that he is a bit on the egotistical side.

    Francis, Marbury, Cassell.....

You can only carry one of these "what if" type of risky players and we already have Francis. Our low risk/high reward quota has been satisfied.

If Francis is not panning out, what makes you think Marbury will?

No way, especially with the Mike James and Steve Francis flameouts last year. No use in repeating the same mistake again.

Please tell me that he's any worse than Rafael Alston.. see last year status

    Marbury Pts 13.9, assists 4.7, 3pt 37.8%, turnover 2
    Alston Pts 13.1, assists 5.3, 3pt 35.1%, turnover 2.2

dont forget all marbury did not have any super star to play with in NY, and which he needed to create his own shots, unlike Rafel Alston had all the open shots that Yao and Tmac create for him...... and with Marbury was at his worst year in his NBA career, his stat was almost the same as Alston...

Now tell me why Marbury will not be a decent back up for Alston...

He is one of biggest loser in NBA history, a chemistry destroyer, not able to run team offense, no defense and maybe like last-year SF,injuried whole year. Is that enough?

But if he can played whole seasoned like the good part he played last year. He can had a spot in a limited role here.
