6-12 from the field ... 3-6 from 3 point land. 3 steals got 16 points today. Man i didnt know he can score still.. We should of kept him, would of been a good backup.
on cnnsi.. It says ... the bulls win , lead by Elton Brand, Tonic Kukoc and Matt Maloney. That just seems so weird.. Do we look like idiots letting him go or something or was maloney playing us?
Isn't that 3 in a row for them? DAMN!!!! We better get our guys back and healthy and soon. If our current roster can't get to 20 wins by the All-Star break, its time to make some SERIOUS changes. ------------------ Without a good defense, there is no offense. We don't need no stinking badges!!! We need some stinking WINS!!!
Maloney was 4-4 from the field and 3-3 from 3 pt land to start the game. That means he finished the game 2-12 from the field and 0-3 from 3pt land. Either reality or rustiness set in I guess. And if we had kept him, he'd rarely get many minutes here anyway, so it wouldn't matter. ------------------ Rocket fuel pumps through these veins...
The potential merits of your point aside, you may want to check that math. (If he started 4-4 and ended 6-12...) -Paul.
just think is was stupid to be paying maloney while he is a bull. he should have been on our ir or something he is better than drew
I am going to bring up something that I have not seen previously on this BBS, and that is Maloney has good spacing. Tim Floyd mentioned this recently. Consider how well he has looked so far in the triangle offense, where proper spacing is a necessity. In my personal opinion, he would have made a much better role player than Drew. He plays better defense, is more consistent, and is simply smarter with the ball.
The frustrating thing to me is that the Pistons had an extremely attractive deal on the table for him, but we just decided to waive him... 16 points?!?! Sheesh, at least trade him with Mack for another overpaid scrub and a second round pick so our cap doesn't get ****ed for another year or two... ------------------ WE WILL WATCH THEM FALL.
Since I don't know which of the two identical threads will last here's my $.02 (again) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Matt Maloney was never one of my favorite players, but he was decent. He would've made a very capable back up to Francis. The Rocket's biggest mistake was giving him a huge contract for future accomplishments instead of past. Here's my theory on what happened to Maloney. It wasn't an injury thing. It was a confidence thing, but not the way most people see it. I think he signed that huge contract and started to feel that he had to play better to start earning some of it. But, he started pressing and his shot wouldn't fall then he started thinking that he wasn't worth what the Rockets were paying him, and it snowballed from there. I know deep down that we had to get rid of him, but not because he sucked, but because he could never live up to such a big contract. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.
Matt was so hot/cold. But i guess he didnt get too much playing time. He shouldve taken advantage of what he got (the playing time) that one year though. Oh well. He sure did have pretty eyes. But, what's that got to do with anything?
How about this: Matt Maloney scored 16 points in his bulls debut and he is still considerably worse than Bryce Drew. Maloney is playing for the Bulls for crying out loud! the Rockets have 3 times the talent that Chicago has, particularly at the point! How quickly everyone here forgets how ****TY Maloney really is. He had no place on this team.
Clutch & I were posting within the following thread as a jest not too long ago, but some of you guys are now proving us right. Maloney to Bulls?
JR - You are entitled to your opinion that Maloney is a s***** player, and I agree that he is no Francis, but your premise doesn't seem to hold up. If, as you inferred, a player will naturally look better on a worse team, why was the best play of Maloney's career in his rookie year? The Rockets made the Western Conference Finals that year. Also, if you compare Drew's stats to Maloney's in his first two years with a better Rockets team, Maloney still seems to have the advantage. Maybe you might want to reconstruct your argument so it better supports your opinion.
Fransissy, We are discussing MaloneY, not Malone. You must be looking at different statistics than I am. While Bryce is averaging only 2/3 of the minutes that Maloney did his 2nd year, Bryce is averaging only 1 less point/game, comparable reb/g, st/g and assists/g. Besides Bryce has a better shooting percentage (fg, 3pt and FT). I really am unsure where you are getting your stats!
