Well, it's not so muhc major as it is enormously aggravating. A week ago, while I was playing counter-strike, my computer froze. It was the first time in the 6 months that I had the computer that it had froze... ok , reset.... so . a couple of days ago it started happening everytime I was playing counter-strike. i recently got AOE2 from my friend and it would keep freezing in the middle of that...... but now, the problem has graduated to normal activities. I startup my computer, it freezes. I start internet explorer, it freezes. I eat a banana, it freezes. WTF?!!?!??! I already restored my computer to factory settings and REWROTE my whole hard drive, free and clear like factory. BUT STILL, blah, IT STILL FREEZES!!! whats a poor guy to do... I hope my message gets sent before the computer freezes AGAIN!!
My computer freezes playing CS alot of times as well and I have to reboot each time. I never took the time to research or try to figure out why. I'm sure it's some bug in the program. It's pretty annoying when it happens. I don't have any other issues with other software, though. Surf
ya, it wouldnt bother me that much if it was just cs, BUT IT IS SPREADING !!! AHHHHHHHHHHH : Drew is permanently frozen in time :
Ok, so how do I reverse the voodoo (im not apoligizing to that shmuck behad) ... in other words, CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH MY COMPUTER PROBLEM?
http://www.pcpitstop.com this website will run various system checks on your system and let you know of any problems. registration is required, but it's a short registration form. My Norton Systemworks helps me with any problems. Maybe your HD is really fragmented and needs to be cleaned up? How about trying to use the Windows System Tools? It has a defragger... good luck
Ok, ran the computer test and got a perfect score. Just now ran defrag, and its complete. Hopefully this clears up the problem... ill be on the computer all night and if it freezes again, I will report back. Thanks for your help rockHEAD
what kind of computer do you have? I can think of a couple things without any specifics -a hard drive that is going bad -your pc overheating -memory gone bad CS is a buggy game, but I dont think it would effect your computer in that way. you might just want to reinstall windows on top of itself, without formatting.
Dude, It is the memory.........you have a bad memory chip and it is causing the freeze. That is my best guess, it happens all the time. Try replacing the memory, or pulling chips one at a time. DaDakota
My guess is the RAMs as well. I heard there are softwares that can check the "health" of memory chips by performing tests. I have no idea on whether they're good or not. Just my two cents.
Memory or heat. One of those two no doubt. It doesn't sound like software (although I suppose it's possible), but my guess would be heat because it's so random. Are all of your fans running properly, and how cool is it all? RAM is another possibility as well.
fans are running smooth.... I think it might be the memory, although its going to cost me more money, I would rather have the peace of mindof knowing whats wrong. But since I am not sure I will give you my specs gigabyte VIA kt266a GA-7VTXE Motherboard AMD 1900+ XP 80GB 7200 Seagate 512mb ram ddr sdram pc2100 24x10x40 plextor cdrw 16x dvd Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum Gerfore 3 ti200 5.1 Altec Lansing speakers in-win ATX medium tower 300w case 3com 10/100 TX PCI I even had an extra fan installed to prevent overhearing because this machine was the **** about 6 months ago . I can hear the fan(s) blowing... I feel so hopeless
RAM is pretty cheap, except maybe for that fancy RAM you run.... your 512 ram, how is split up? one 512 chip? or two or four chips? try running the PC with less one or two less pieces of ram.... maybe it's just one ram chip that's bad?
well, like panda said, is there a program I can run to check it instead of dicking around with my computer... I m not a big fan of opening her up due to the lack of knowledge I have concerning internal parts of computers.
I'm telling you that Athlons EAT power supplies esp 1.8ghz+ I have replaced a dozen of them but you can't rule out memory or video (not as likely) yet
