Juwan Howard is expected to sign a 5yr, $28m deal with the Orlando Magic on Wednesday.

My thoughts: I'm estatic. Howard, because of his contract, has become underrated. He provides the Magic with two very solid (if not very similar) big men and catapaults them into contention in the East. He provides a solid 2nd scoring option to McGrady and is able to guard the majority of the centers in this league.

All media reports had Howard to Detroit or Minnesota, but there was one quiet report (Insider even made no mention of it) that said Howard was better than 50/50 to Orlando. Now, it comes out: he's gonna don the stars alongside TMac.

You are going to LOVE Juwan. I'm not sure there's a classier player in the NBA. I was hoping we'd re-sign him, but it just wasn't looking like it was realistic. Solid post player, but his strength is the 15 foot jumper. Solid rebounder. GREAT leader. You are going to see a whole new Gooden by the time the year is over thanks to Juwan. He did wonders for Nene.

I'll definately cheer him loud when he's introduced at the Pepsi Center next year for the Magic vs Nugs game.

Really good pickup for the Magic! Since Grant Hill is done (he needs to just admit it!) Howard will really help T-Mac out. If only he had Howard when he trash-talked his way out of the playoffs!

Starting at power forward. Juwan will likely play center.

Thanks for the report. I think the Nuggets were happy to have him, but decided to mutally part. Juwan wants to win, the Nugs are ready to go with youth and rebuild, and I think both sides pretty much took advantage of and were happy with last year.

I'm glad to hear that he's a great leader; if the Magic (heaven forbid) do not re-sign Darrell Armstrong, they'll need more leadership. Howard's a winner, even though most of the squads he's been on have been losers. And, the possibilities with improving Gooden's game are definitely there - the two have very similar styles to their play. Heck, the two even look pretty much alike!

I think his reputation still precedes him, however, and that's what kept his interest and price range relatively low. I'll take it, though!

This is pretty surprising. I thought he had all but signed on the dotted line with the Wolves. I guess this makes the rumors of Terrell Brandon for Eddie Jones look more realistic since they weren't going to have EJ or Wally ride the bench.

I don't think it's all that surprising. The Sentinel reported on Thursday that the Magic were better than 50/50 for Howard, but none of the major media outlets picked up on it like they have with the other reports. Even ESPN Insider completely skipped it over in favor of a report on Ira Newble.

But, in the end....Howard's going to Orlando. Detroit and Minny are the big losers.

assuming they sign Pachila and he can contribute, they have a nice rotation of Gaines, T-Mac, Giricek, Gooden, Howard and Pachila.

Great move. Magic are in the hunt, no doubt. Gooden is gonna be a stud, T-Mac might be the best all around player in the game, and now a solid banger to boot. Assuming Howard can play center, which I don't think he's done much, this is a really smart move.

    YoYao,

It's becoming obvious why a lot of people make fun of you in the Hangout.

    MFClark,

No prob bro. Honestly, I'm gonna be really sad to see Juwan go. I knew it was gonna happen, but you still hold out hope. If there's any more info that you need, let me know and I can help you out.

As if the fact that it is a major free agent signing isn't enough, here's why...

    From my Clutch BBS profile...
It's what the mf stands for :)

    Nuggets4,

Thanks...will do. If the Clippers somehow manage to not match the offer for Maggette, you all are getting a steal. He's capable of being a show-stopper at all times and has improved his shot from his time here in Orlando. Truth be told, that and playing time is about all he's lacked. He's an excellent defender and consistently gives Kobe Bryant fits on both ends of the court, among others. Plug him in as the starting shooting guard and along with Miller and Anthony, your swing positions and backcourt are set for over ten seasons.

As for Howard leaving Denver, I understand that feeling. It's the same when I realized Ben Wallace was leaving the Magic. That has come back to haunt the Magic; I don't think losing Juwan will haunt the Nuggets because of Nene, but it sounds like he'll be missed by the ones who know the team well.

Not to break up the Magic-Nuggets love affair (euuu), but I am glad as hell Juwon is not going to the Timberwolves.

He will definitely help out the Magic. He can probably be an 18-10 player for them.

Poor guy has a bad rep for accepting that $105 million contract. Was he worth it? Hell no. But who in their right mind would refuse such a contract?

Lucky! Howard...good job not going to Twolves. Good job going to Magic. This will help the Magic.

    1. Nets
    1. Pacers
    1. Pistons
    4. Magic!
    5. Heat
    6. Cavs

    McGrady
    Gooden
    Howard
    Kemp
    Garrity

    Is Kemp a free agent?

Since Hill is still injured like he has been the past century...Gooden will play small forward.

And they still have Giricek! Awesome shooter.

    Lucky Magic.

I think they should resign Armstrong.

I was thinking, how the heck can Juwon Howard play center. Then I looked at Orlando's roster and saw their centers from last year ... Shawn Kemp, Pat Burke and DeClercq. Howard is a nice scorer and can rebound, but he is not an enforcer. He is not an intimidator. Paired with Drew Gooden, they will be a nice front court, but I can see the Magic having a good year, score a lot of points, give up a lot of points and bow out in the first or second round of the playoffs

the most important part is that he won't be helping any of the rocket's rivals.

i was laughing at the idea of him playing center but then i realized first of all it's the east and secondly who really plays center nowadays anyhow. alongside gooden that could be a very very good frontcourt for a while and of course tmac makes them atleast eastern conference contenders.

Once again a team without a clue. Why not spend that 6 or 7m and try to get Kandi,Raho, or Miller instead of a player who plays the same position as your 2nd best player. Since Shaq has left, Orlando hasn't had a clue. They wanted to clear cap room after the McGrady-Hill signing by giving away players, but then sign guys like Garrity and screw up their cap situation. They're about as clueless as .......
