As an Audio engineer I understand the value of lip syncing and the trouble and potential disaster it prevents.

I remember growing up as a kid during her prime, she used to be "wild" for the standard back then. I think she was the first singer celebrity I knew that showed her boobs or something, so that drew me in. Never interested in her music much, though... and when you really think about it, she's not that hot. But I was mesmerized as a kid for some reason.

My guess, and a wild speculation, is that she got her fame from being wild. Like the Rodman of her genre.

I thought it was an impressive show. Don't know what else you were expecting from Madonna? It was all it was intended to be.

and I reluctantly accept the lip sync for a show like this given the nature of the show and the stage and sound setup timing.

She's been at it almost 30 years now. A 30 year career as a pop princess is pretty extraordinary.

I thought it was good, not a fan of Madonna but thought I it was watchable, not a trainwreck.

Word on the street is that Madonna eff-ed her way to the top.

    No shame in that.

Not great from Madonna. The lip synching was a problem. It might have been acceptable had she been doing some remarkable dancing that required all focus and concentration.

As it was her dancing looked like she was scared of breaking a hip the whole time. Every move just seemed like her trying to be careful instead of going all out. It wasn't impressive.

    Her talents were twofold:

    1. She sold a sexy image in a very overt way at a time when no one other female pop singer was pushing the envelope very far.

    2. She surrounded herself with people who were far more naturally talented than she, and milked the formula for all it's worth.

I'm not a fan of her music or image, but I must grudgingly admire her business acumen. She's not a particularly gifted singer, or dancer, or musician (she does have some rudimentary skills on the guitar and drums), but she knows, and has always known, how to sell her image effectively.

And honestly, that's what pop music is all about.

Her talent? Well, back in the 80's she had amazing music, she danced well, and was sexy. She is an icon like Michael Jackson. Some of her song, for example "like a prayer" are timeless. Nothing Katy Perry, Ke$ha or these pop bimbos of today will be considered timeless 20 years from now.

I thought she put on a good show.
Not sure why any of you would want to hear her sing live [shivers].

Cee-Lo definitely was a highlight for me...

M.I.A. tho tasteless, is a marketing genius.
    Madonna has taught her well.

    1) she looked terrible and awkward while she was dancing. The portion where she was passed around from guy to guy was just painful

    2) Every step she took in those boots looked like she was going to fall down, especially when she indeed did almost fall down while taking that step.

    3) I don't mind a couple people making an appearance but it just seemed forced. And that one broad that flipped off the camera...really?! what a moron.
And people wonder why the NFL has been apprehensive putting on new/younger groups. Get used to the Beach Boys for the next 10 years.

    4) She was definitely lip syncing early on but it seemed to me that some of the latter songs where being sung live...although maybe it was just synced that well.

    5) The stage was cool.

    6) "World Peace" That made me do a face palm.

    7) She did look pretty good. Obviously had some work done but no biggy. I am glad that she did cover up her willem defoe arms.

    Same feelings here.

I enjoyed the show. It did what SB halftiime shows haven't done in a long time: entertain and make the 30 minute break fly by.

It was good compared to Fergie and co.
If they are gonna go old school, they should have Earth Wind n Fire or Rolling Stones..

It was an improvement over the absolute disaster that was the Black Eyed Peas.

But is the world really that devoid of real talent? What's wrong with putting up a Janelle Monae or Bruno Mars instead? She looked every bit the 50 year old she was up there to me.

Although it wouldn't be popular with the older crowd, why not put Muse up there. They are by far the best and most talented live act I have witnessed.

Hey, just think in 20 years we'll all be saying the same thing about Lady Gaga's Super Bowl halftime performance.

So there's that to look forward to...

Well the best halftime show in my life time was U2. And when I saw U2 live at Reliant they looked like scrubs compared to the group that opened for them... And guess who that group was ;).
