Espn is reporting that Lampe's team Real Madrid will require a buyout. I guess that explains the drop.
Apparently, he is still under contract there for 2 more years with a team option beyond that. Plus, they are going to want a BIG buyout. Bummer for that guy.
MACIEJ he was a bust before coming to the Knicks - landing here would make him an even bigger bust MACIEJ!#$!#!#!# Wait until bovie sees this
Our draft pick -- Malick Badiane -- may face the same obstacles, and that's why he dropped to #44. He just signed with a German club last month.
If I were Mark Cuban I would've drafted Lampe and just told Real Madrid to name their price. He's to big of a talent not to have in the NBA.
Ahhh. I stand corrected. I guess he'll just have to stick it out with Real then for the next 2 years.
As a 2nd round pick, he can sign a multi-year cdeal using NY's MLE, having then enough money to buy his contract out.
The thing is, if they want to, the knicks could offer him the mle if they so choose to. Since he's not in the 1st rd and is not locked in, since he owes the team 1.8 mill, the knicks could offer him a 3 yr contract calling for 4.5 in the 1st yr, but declining after that so he can pay Real Madrid off. Going in the 2nd rd has its benefits.
