    This from the David Stern interview on ESPN.com:

    STERN: I disagree completely. If those teams were in a position to win, you would see them spending wildly. It's just not so. They'd rather be winning because they would take in more money from the extra attendance than they would spend on the tax. It makes good copy, but it's not true. If a team is close to being ready to challenge, you will find them more than willing at the margins to go the final amount.

    Are the Rockets close to being ready to challenge? Does Owner Alexander believe his team is close to being ready to challenge? Will Owner Alexander be willing to pay the dreaded Luxury Tax? Or is Owner Alexander willing to settle for Les wins. As in Les wins more $s while piling up fewer/less/Les wins in the very competitive West?

    Go for it, Mr Owner Alexander, go for it this off season because this off season is starting too too too early. Again.
